Diawa hyper sensor, my thoughts & experiences.

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is a short review of the Diawa sensor fishing monofilament fishing line. I give my opinion on my experience with it along with my views of the Korda Subline and why I chose to use it during a carp fishing trip to a French lake.

Great review steve u hit the nail on the head so to speak there are lots of variables to take into account when selecting a line and one line might suit one fella but is no good to another guys fishing im kinda lucky i personally only use 10ft rods with 5000 size reels loaded with 20lb flurocarbon because i fish a small intimate water with 10 wraps being the max i would cast so line lay is the crucial factor to me and abrasion resistance as there are pads and reeds but that line would be useless to a guy fishing a big pit and casting 100yds so it really is horses for courses mate i think the daiwa sensor lines have a bit of a cult following over the years as an amazing line for the money but yea grown men arguing over lines is sadly a sign of the times now mate great video cheers and tight lines

Nice video just a little bit in depth for me but has made me think of changing my line a bit more often.

I use it in the lighter bs for match style carping and even float fishing and never had any issues but not used it for heavier carp fishing

Sensor is good value, but after trying, I found it to coil of the spool & has a tendency to get friction crinkles when moving your end tackle . I'm going back to my old faithful, tried & tested Maxima .

Daiwa s great line for casting long range I use 3 1/2 oz leads must be at least 0.35 min diameter and also you must check first couple of rod length ever time you bring them rods back in for any slight nicks in the material and that goes for any line that’s generally why a lot of people have crack offs

I have never liked Sensor, but I was persuaded to try the Hyper Sensor. Used the 12lb and in a water with straggly weed, it was useless. Its a thin diameter and pre stretched so is not very good with big casts and weed. Binned the lot. I use the Tournament ST in 8lb for feeder fishing and I do like that stuff. I need to try it in the higher breaking strains.

I think have hit the nail on the head with lines. The figures I have always used for BS vs diametres is: 10lb = .30mm, 12lb = .32mm, 15lb = .35mm and 20lb = .40mm. Subline meets the 10lb figure but their 15lb line is the diameter of most companies 20lb line so it will have better abrasion resistance and break above it claimed BS. The Daiwa is much thinner than my guide measurements so will excel at casting but it is not for abrasion resistance as it is the same diameter as thinner lines. I don't believe all lines are like this. I have some white Shimano line I bought from Lithuania that has a BS nearly double what my guide measurement says it should have and is incredibly abrasion resitant as well. The problem with all lines is consistency. I believe that are bad batches of all line. Some do not tolerate certain knots very well so fail easier than they should. Some just break well below their stated BS figure. I have been using Konger line for the last three years, I think the thin NGT stuff is Konger but could be wrong, and I have to say I have had no issues with it. Very thin, very abrasion resistant, very good value and I do love the camo colour which really makes it harder to see in water. I use their 33lb line which is the same as most companies 20lb line, .40mm, for carping and catfish. I use the NGT 8lb line, which is the same diameter as many companies 5-6lb line, for commercials. Never been broken up, casts very well and is very cheap. Just because I have had really good experiences using it doesn't mean everyone else will though. I think lines are a marmite product in them selves as you will not find any line that everyone has great opinions about and everyone will disagree on what is the best line. The best line really is the one you like to use for the purpose you are using it based on your experience and confidence and it has nothing to do with the pricetag or the name on the spool.

Just use standard sensor, the diameters are a bit big for the supposed breaking strain but I've been using since it was £3 a spool so a long time ago and can't find a line as good, 18lb will tow boat !

OK so here's a question, I'm new to carp fishing as I normally fish with fly being originally from Scotland. I have bought 15lb hyper sensor line and I'm using a 0.30 to 0.60 oz weight will this break my line or should I be OK. I've heard good things about it as a main line but your video has had me thinking, so much so I weighed my weights just to check them.

It will be fine mate you’ll catch on it no worries some people just go on about shit, I’ve used 10lb ngt for years because I am a cheap skate apparently but I’ve caught big fish with it and it’s got the same memory as most lines, my advice would be stick to what you know don’t believe the hype, the way you’ve fished for years is fine carp ain’t that much different at all mate ✌🏻🍺🎣

You mentioned the abrasion resistant ent the best with this sort of f line but how would u compare it to most braided line as I've heard braided line is terrible for abrasion resistant would it still be better than most braided line

Fox exocet is good, anything that has a thin diameter and low stretch, daiwa sensor has a little bit of stretch but is a little bit thick so it's a good alrounder for match fishing, thick lines with resin like kordas are for close range with snags

Hyper Sensor - the BEST line I've used in 60+ years of fishing... and have used it for over 5 years for ALL my fishing! I get 1000 metres for £16! Korda??? EVERYTHING they do is crap and their lines are no absolutely different Maxima??? Fine if you run out of wire for pike traces and don't mind its BS dropping from eg15lb to 1lb in less that 10 seconds for NO reason at all ... an entire spool ... NGT Camou ... not reliable at all.. Drennan ... ummm, jury out... Berkeley ... crud, all models! I've had the same line, unchanged, on my reels spools for over 3 years now and still going strong....

People need to quit buying lines based an breaking strength. And buy based on diameter. As I have never had a line break in perfect condition hitting the breaking point. It always has wear and possibly a defect or Knick from fishing/fighting a fish. Just my two cents. Good review and talking points.
