My cat developed diarrhea after being constipated for 5 months and she was drinking a ton of water. My vet told me to feed her foods “higher in protein” and if it’s not better in 4 days, then give her OTC Kaopectate at 4ml every 6 hours. *Edit: Avoid this advice.

I appreciate you trying to help others. That being said if you have a cat that's constipated you want to make sure to be feeding them wet food and from all the experts that I have normally spoken to which report certified veterinary internal medicine specialists they typically recommend high fiber diets. And you would also need to look into a promotility agent something like cisapride to keep the bowels moving at a good rate. Also also if your cat is constipated and then starts having diarrhea I would be concerned that the liquid stool is the only thing that can get by the constipated poop. The dosing that you gave for your cat is specific for your cat and could potentially not be effective or even worse detrimental to another patient. I purposely left this post up so that others can see the caution that one should take when looking at other people's advice or not professionals. That's not to say that you can't get great advice from someone who has a ton of life experience which is essentially what a professional is but I would definitely be cautious when taking advice from someone who hasn't seen your cat specifically. If you don't trust your veterinarian then you need to find another one. That last comment is for people who are looking for answers anywhere else other than a veterinarian

My dog has had diarrhea for four days now and isn’t eating much. His diarrhea yesterday has turned yellow orangish in color now and I’m very worried. Have a giardia fecal test pending but I’m worried about my boy in the meantime.

my dog ate a few small pieces off of his new toys recently, about 2 small ears off his toy, smaller than an inch. He’s been having diarrhea for a few days now and I haven’t seen anything in his stool. Could it be a blockage? Or did it just irritate his gi tract? he’s a 35lb border collie mix

Give them Overcooked Rice or boiled chicken. Those are Easily digested foods. Feed them often in smaller portions rather than one big meal. Until stomach better

My dogs has diarrhea for 3 straight months and I’ve tried so many diff foods and treated for coccidia and roundworm. They didn’t test for giardia or any vitamin deficiency (do bloodwork).

My dog had surgery because she ate half a tennis ball and got stuck in her intestines… she was in antibiotics for 2 weeks and after that she developed diarrhea, we are on the 4th week after her surgery and she is slowly getting harder stools. What Vet don’t tell you is that antibiotics killed good and bad bacteria in your pet’s gut so they are left with nothing to help with their digestion.

My dog recently had grass seeds taken out of his paw and had to be sedated for it now he’s on antibiotics I think and some other anti inflammatory tablet but now has lots of diarrhoea specially at night or very early morning

That's a very vague question for something that could be caused by a number of different issues it would be best to see your veterinarian and have them do the exam including a rectal and collect a detailed history to understand what could be some of the possible things causing the soft stool

I think it’s what you feed the dog. Feed them wrong things they’ll get that.
