Thank you from the root of my heart Dr. Bolin. My exam is getting soon, next March.
hi Paul what happened to the sound?
Sir u are awesome👌👌👌......beacuse of u only i can understand medicine very nice
Please let people know that diareah (sic) can sometimes occur because of serious constipation, too many people don't realise this! Sometimes it's just overflow! If you have checked for cancers then for your own sake, it's highly probable that you're constipated and that a silly reason to feel lathargic, hardly eating etc!
Thanks!
Thank u sir, helped a lot.
Is there a mistake for the 2 most common causes of bloody diarrhea? You said in the Infectious disease GI video that it's Salmonella & Shigella, and here you're saying Salmonella & Campylobacter?

+Yo lo I'm guessing that I was looking at two different sources in the two lectures. One study looked at enteropathogens in bloody diarrhea and found Shigella (15.3%) and Campylobacter (6.2%) to be the most common. Since most of these are food-borne illnesses, much of it is going to depend on the diet in the population studied (e.g., Campylobacter is more associated w/ animal products, whereas Shigella is also associated w/ raw produce, though this is by no means completely specific). I wouldn't agonize over the order of the most common causes, since for the aforementioned three, the treatment will be the same. Just know the potential causes and the red flags that may point you towards less common causes (e.g., shellfish - Vibrio spp.; low platelets/HUS - E. coli 0157:H7). If you do use antibiotics, the treatment is the same regardless of the pathogen; with certain exceptions being E. coli 0157:H7 (no antibiotics) and V. vulnificus (a tetracycline).

+Paul Bolin Awesome, thanks for the detailed answer. One more question: shouldn't ETEC & Vibrio Cholera be included in the most common non-bloody infectious diarrhea causes? Btw, thank you for your effort. Brilliant videos.

It is now vanco 125 mg PO QID for 10 days or fidaxomicin for initial episode. 1st recurrence then you do the vanco taper or fidaxomicin regimen, 2nd recurrence vanco taper or fidaxomicin or vanco + rifaximin. Severe Cdiff has a different regimen. but this is from Uptodate
there is no sound!
