Bought him earlier today he’s pretty decent has some really good stalling abilities and one really OP upgrade where he summons these smaller gold dragons that do loads of magic damage.

I like him a lot. He is the only balanced Dragon hero who doesn't feel like shit to play. It feels like Ashbite and Faustus never do what you want them to, and lack stalling power. Gold collecting abilities are awesome as always. Also, i love the cloud he flies in, and his voice is great, even if he is a typical chinese dragon stereotype i think he is one of the aesthetically best looking heroes. I think he's a great addition. One of my favourites in Vengeance (If only i had the stamina to sit through a level in the game)

Well to be honest, most of the heroes, characters and towers have had their stereotipical place in fantasy even before Kingdom Rush was released. Ironhide drew a lot of inspiration from across all different media, as we can see with their references :D

I don't know if anybody has already said this on the coments, but it's pretty interesting the fact that, like doom tank, he can deal damage while he moves Not like doom tank passive, but because he still auto attacks while moving (although he doesn't trigger the abilities obviously) What i mean is that, even if he is not the best dragon (obviously), because he still does magic damage, i think this factor kinda makes up for his slow speed, lemme try to explain myself: when you usually reposition a hero, it goes though all the enemies without doing nothing(excluding teleports), but Dianyun can still auto attack them (and his autoattack apply the 0.666s stun), so it's not totally useless while he's moving, which does make up for his slow speed, but kinda helps to compensate. Also, the 0.666 stun can interrupt things like the engeneering reparation (for example)

@Voduke789 I think this dragon could be at least top 5 now for these following reasons: 1. Although his mainly attack only deals magic damage, most of the high health high armor enemy in vengeance is phyiscal resistence. 2. He basically has infinite health! Since he can attack while moving, and a moving hero can't be targetted. And because of his massive attack range plus slow movement speed. You can constantly move him around without affecting his DPS. 3. His ultimate can be put back when you don't require extra DPS, when the game gets harder. They can add on hundreads of DPS instantly. 4. He can deal with some hard levels and dangerous enemies better than any other heros include ice dragon himself. For example the War Elephant(one ultimate can deal half of its health in impossible mode), the Djinni(you can move him around, so Djinni's ability won't target him, and he can shot it in the meanwhile), etc.. 5. His DPS is so good, mainly attack DPS can be around 70! And he's probably the most DPS efficiency hero and can achieve his max DPS as close as possible. 6. He can stun one enemy forever, which makes up for his single target DPS disadvantage(At max level. he stun 0.666s/attack. 4 attacks/2s. 0.066s cast time. 0.5s per 4 attacks delay. ) -->(0.666*4 - 0.066*3 - 0.5)/2 = 0.983s stun/1s in theory. In practice, his performance is much better.Because of the enemy animations, the 0.5s delay only appears at the end of the 4th attack and other shit. 7. He has better ground control than anything else except ice dragon's ultimate for obvious reason. 8. Nothing deals with flying emenies better than him. He's basically a magic version of shaolin but stronger and has better range and even more versatile. 9. His ability to get gold is nuts in the post game levels. PLS consider my opinions, thanks. You are one of my favourite KZreadrs. Your videos turned me from a player who spam support items non-stop to a normal KR player. And I really apperciate it. It's a nice game, I played it probably a decade ago , and it's really a sweet memory of my childhood.

He seems a bit underwhelming. I believe one small change to his mechanism might turn him into A or S- tier: 1. true dmg instead of Magic or 2. incredible speed to act as a CC weapon around the map or 3. Supreme waves deal good damage to act as an occasional nuker. or 4. the area around Dragon sticks can reduce enemies' speed/attack/resistance, or explode & stun/slow upon expiring. or 5. gain 2 coins instead of 1, so he would mainly act as a god of fortune.

I think he's fine as it is. If he did true damage he would be really powerful, possibly even on par with Wilbur. His damage with the basic attack upgrades and hero spell is really high already. Supreme Wave is basically a far better version of Smokespitter, and his gold collecting is arguably more valuable than Wilbur's damage abilities.

A perfectly balanced dragon hero, you say? Never thought I would see the day.

I'd be OK with the dragons being OP. I mean they're dragons and some heroes can just be there for fun, not for balanced gameplay. So in that regard, he seems a bit underwhelming. Maybe he's got great synergy with that new tower that stuns too.

I absolutely love this hero, and I will go as far as to say, he is my favourite. He provides excellent stalling, constant flow of magic damage, easy to use, and incredible synergie with both barracks and the new shaolin temple. At the same time, he feels really balanced to me, especially when we take a look at the other dragons (Im looking at you, damn Eiskalt and Murglun). I would consider him better than Beresad, simply because of the consistent gold generation of his passive ability. Great review tho!

I really like to pair him up with the new tower. The stalling of that is very good I think. When you throw a barrack or a ghost mausoleomeloleoounmem in it will really take enemies their time to break trough

As someone who's favourite hero's are all stallers I think this might be my favourite dragon. The others have insane kill power but I've always gravitated more towards people like catha and Alric who can stall (specifically group stall). So with his ability to heal troops and stun basically 4 enemies at a time combined with looking and sounding awesome I'm definitely happy with him. Side note and maybe I'm just washed but was this mini campaign harder than usual? I really liked the difficulty on this one. Felt like I had to think a bit more than just "place random stuff at the choke"

Imo that "healing cloud" quite underwhelming for him, how about that ability change to his hero spell with a little bit rework. His actual hero spell will be spawning a thundercloud that follow enemies path deal high amount damage and stun enemies, or maybe just deal damage to all enemies on the map and also has a lingering damage to enemies like poison instead stun for the sake make him OP

I don't think you mentioned this and it might be a fairly minor thing, but he seems to be able to attack while moving. I don't think he can use specials outside if the chain lighting special on the basic attack, but i could hypothetically see this as being somewhat useful against ranged enemies.

I think it's pretty significant that he can move and attack. However, I don't recommend moving him too much anyways due to that slow speed.

The fact that all his ability deal magic damage make him the worst hero against magic resistance but still i love his stalling power design and easy micro he deserve 21 and as i see in the video he can shot while he moving that something none of the heroes can do(except murglun passif)

He's really good in the rotten forest levels where you get loads of ghosts and magical creatures that can only be damaged by magic.

He also seems to be able to attack while moving, which seems huge imo (also seems to be a bug where some enemies will get permanently stunned by the wave)

@@xenxander ye, know that now, was just unsure if it was a bug or not due to how unprecidented it was.

Recently got into these games again and grabbed this dragon and the monk tower on sale, the two combined in a single choke works wonders as both the lantern and the golden statue stack on kills, the tower also stuns but does physical damage and the dragon warrior is a pretty effective blocker and damage dealer. I find Dianyun's full focus on magical damage let's me focus on my physical towers which is really useful in early mixed or heavy physical resisting waves.

The healing is kind of good for those solo units some towers spawn (samurai, Bone golem) as they tend to heal very slowly. So i those towers are in choke points and he's nearby, it's quite handy to have them get a nice healing, even while attacking. I don't tend to use him that often, but I notice he seems to consistently attack up to six enemies at a time when they are grouped together. If you put him near naturally slowing towers like the monks or rotten forest, then as enemies bunch up, he can do nice spread damage which also as you mentioned, stuns. He's both hands off and micro depending on the situation, but since he can't move that fast, he's lower on the list for me. I wish his 'all way stun' also did damage like ice dragon's ice spikes. If it did some true damage and stunned, then this dragon just might be higher.

6:59: 120 HP total, not 240. 5 seconds divided by .5 is 10 and 10*12 is 120. Primary mystery solved though: [with 4 fully finished games and the fact that only the original KR is getting a new hero (to commemorate 10 years)] Eiskalt is still the best of the best.

Depending on how you view it, yes, he'd the tied slowest hero, but his movement is not the slowest hero movement in the series. That's actually Magnus Spellbane while walking (which would be 36 when converted to Vengeance units), but well, he has a teleport...

He is also technically a bit faster than slow ground heroes as he can fly over obstacles

I haven't gotten the update yet, I have no idea why. The hero looks awesome though, not super strong but fun

Having to listen this again, now that update hit the steam

I wish that he would do damage with his water ability he looks awesome tho I would give that my mango ice cream 🍦🥭✨

Their update seems to have serious bug. My game is stuck after I played the first new level.

As i said in a previous comment, Dianyun is actually unique in that he attacks while moving. Now, to be fair there are other heroes that can do damage while moving (vamp girl has her bat familiar, jigou ice ball, Murglun blood ect). But only Dianyun has his main damage source still usable while moving, being his base attack and his chain lightning. This allows for him to still be mobile and does allow for some very interesting micro at times, though if you tend to dislike micro he is perfect at sitting beside a chokepoint, raking in massive amounts of gold while keeping allied units healthy through stuns and his direct heal. Doesnt hurt that his overall dps is fairly good, albeit limited to one damage type, though the usage of towers like bone flingers, swamp things and shadow archers mesh well with him, especially as he cannot target flying enemies.

UPDATE: apparently he can now target flying enemies. Haven't tested it yet.

Just to clarify, I believe given his name should be 點雲 (copy to Google translate so you can hear a pronunciation)，which means Cloud Toucher, or He who Gently Touches the Clouds. I say that based on the setting of Ancient China and his cloud based abilities, though this is only my interpretation. Love your stuff, hope he will come to the PC version soon so I can try him out.

Divine rain's small activation range is obviously made for the player to choose when and where they want to use the heal.

Unrelated to this video but: I just found out that Bolin can be moved after firing one shot to reset his counter without having to reload like the mages in the Ios version. This was done on Steam however. Were you aware of this?

It should probably be pronounced as: Dien Yoon. In Mandarin Chinese it means 电(Dian - electricity, lightning, etc.) 云(Yun - cloud).

Send him to the iron mode challenge that only has sheep. You can level up lots of heroes that way.. if they do ranged damage and this dragon does. (as units can't physically block sheep).

Assuming Dianyun is a Chinese name I think Dianyun means 天云 (tiānyún) in chinese which translates into skycloud. Chinese pronunciation is hard to explain in english but it's pronounced as thian yun with a long “a” and a short “u” (“a” pronounced like “a” in apple). All this is assuming it's a Chinese name which may not be the case.

hmmm... he sounds okay not OP or trash like somewhere in the middle, I might pick him up just for fun also I have not experienced the bug that most people are having issues right now... guess I'm just lucky.

He actually seems to be the upgraded version of Catha from KRO. A mediocre magic damage skill, 1 healing skill, 1 summoning skill that is mostly used for dps, 1 aoe stun, basic Atk that can/always apply stun. He's better overall than Catha IMO.

Not sure if you noticed, but I'm pretty sure his lightning strike ability is bugged. I've noticed that he only does it once at the beginning of a level, and then never uses it again after.

layer the shaolin tower with the rotten forest and you have a nice choke point of slow potential right there.
