Diane: Become Human! Skated my p̶o̶w̶e̶r̶ s̶u̶p̶p̶l̶y̶ u̶n̶i̶t̶ heart out to “Kara Main Theme” from the game Detroit: Become Human 🤖
Inspired by the premise of Detroit: Become Human as well as the crazy real-life progress in AI recently, this program follows a robot that develops self-awareness, curiosity, and emotions, challenging the boundaries of its own programming. While training this program, I also found myself contemplating my own autopilot tendencies - assuming I “should” make certain choices, or feeling trapped by my natural responses to stress. Like the robot, I struggle to push the limits of how my body was built, how my mind was molded, how my emotions evolved…
Immense gratitude to Jeremy Abbott for the incredibly thoughtful and detailed choreography that made this vision come to life and helped me grow so much as a skater. This performance shattered my personal best score in both technical and second components, and I qualified for Adult Nationals!
