Diana Ross - My Man / Don't Explain (Jun 10, 2023 - Agua Caliente Casino, Rancho Mirage, CA)

Музыка

My Man / Don't Explain - Medley of two jazz standards from her Oscar nominated film, "Lady Sings The Blues." Diana Ross cut short "My Man" when the notes for the song went high. This was her second show of her grueling Musical Legacy tour schedule and I don't blame her for wanting to preserve the quality of her voice for the upcoming shows.
The Diana Ross Show at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, CA on Sat, Jun 10, 2023 was one for the ages. She never sounded better or looked better. She was on fire! But then again, I am bias.

She really needs to cut an album or two of standards with her current voice. So much richness and shading, which she’s always had but is a little deeper and smokier now. She could have another career highlight album. She’s still that good, particularly with this style of music.

I saw Diana last year and loved her,. She sounded better than I expected,. She is such a star that I forgave her lipsyncing during certain songs. The clips from this year show her being slightly uneasy on stage and her voice diminished from lastyear. She's 79, so it's to be expected.

Her voice sounds good here, the song my man that she stopped has a high note but I believe she could sing it if she was using correct support in her tummy. Its not professional to stop a song because of this.

You are not very knowledgeable @AGNETHAFALTSK0G Ross knows how she is feeling at that time and what she wants to handle --- clearly, you yourself are NOT a professional singer!

@R K I believe the break she took during covid definitely made an impact on her. She was still in good voice up until the last show of 2020. Now, since she came back, she's been lip syncing about half of the show and struggles on some (not all) of the songs she sings live. The lip syncing is blatantly obvious, so I don't know why she does it. I'd rather hear her live even if she doesn't sound 100% anymore. Here's a couple of videos where you can easily tell. kzread.info/dash/bejne/do5o0qOHZaTSdrw.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/d2GosrWShpjVnZc.html It's not like it makes me any less of a fan. It's just disappointing. I believe if she worked with a vocal coach, it would help out. I know a few singers who have done that many years into their career just as a tune-up.

@@PeterGrosso yes I agree with you. She was in excellent voice at the Kennedy centre but in 2022 her voice seemed to be good on certain songs but not on others. Also she was lip syncing in the UK shows on some songs and her stage presence seemed different as if she wasn't comfortable at times. The in ear monitors she constantly adjusted during shows and often took the microphone away from her mouth and the recorded voice continued to be heard. She has one album to finish recording and another UK tour coming but I worry she won't be up to it and damage her reputation and legacy.
