It is high time the Rock and Roll hall of Fame gave her her own place in the hall. She deserves it every bit as much as Aretha, Tina and other superstars of her era. She has soloed, sung lead or duet on 18 number one singles in the rarefied air of Elvis, the Beatles, Mariah and Madonna (who has 12; tied with the Supremes). Let's go, Rock and Roll hall. Now is the time while she is still with us.

Read her biography:while she admits to suffering from some form of anorexia in her younger years (she explains that back then they didn't have a name for this in the black community) she never experimented w/ drugs, especially having studied to prepare for her role in the harrowing life story of Billie Holiday. Diana's had the same stage faces and movements since the 60s. Frankly,for me the 70's represents her prime; sexy,ultra-glamourous, funky, and fun-loving. She could get down in concert.
@waynej2608

Her performance as Billie Holiday was nothing short of perfection. The bio film played fast and loose with the facts, but Diana was note perfect. People owe it to themselves to see Lady Sings the Blues, for her performance, if for no other reason. And Richard Pryor, in a supporting role, ain't too shabby either.

What a great live performance by Diana. I remember when this came out back in the 70’s; I was about 15 and boy we burnt up the dance floor dancing to this classic. Every Thursday evening there was a dance party for us kids. We had so much fun dancing to all of that great music. Diana Ross has had such a great career both with the Supremes; the #1 girl group ever, and then have a huge successful solo career. Not to mention movies. The lady has done it all. I’ve always thought without Diana singing lead on all of those Supreme classics, I really don’t think that group would have had all of the success they had. Diana’s voice sounds like a mature adolescent singing, but sexy. This was the uniqueness, and the charisma. We that’s my take on it anyway. Peace out. 🕺🏾🎼🎼

People think she was a weak singer because the record producers always made her tone it down in the studio. As you can hear, she sounds way different singing live in those days. IT was like...WOW! Luckily at her concerts they let her hang it all out, smash it up, stomp it, slay it, and show it who's boss.. But then again, I think those people had hearing problems, because a voice doesn't have to sound like Whitney Houston's in order to have adequate volume, and her voice was high-pitched and nasal, so super loud wasn't necessary.

Diana in her Prime. her voice is Top Form. Just ten years before 1966 she was leading the Top Female Group in the world The Supremes. They were second only to the Beatles in 1966 having had five no.1 pop. songs in a row. Here 1976 her voice is at it's Best. This is the Diana I remember.

Classy and elegant. Perfect for Diana.
That's quite a tale to tell the grandkids..... "I once disco danced on stage with Diana Ross." "Yeah, sure you did grandpa." "No really, it's right there on KZread."
When late night television was awesome and actually worth staying up for.
Now is the time while she is still with us.

how'd you feel about Donna Summer? can you compare the 2 at the time? ii wasn't alive... so ii have no reference.
Wow. Diana at this point was so comfortable in her stardom, singing and performing abilities she was just awesome. To talk with, dance with and sing with the crowd members and invite them on stage and have so much fun. With all that, she was still in control, nothing got out of hand and she was just a master.

What a story that kid has to tell ... the night Diana Ross said, 'don't leave me' to him as he danced with her onstage in the unforgettable 1970s! (and his mamma has a story to tell, too ... about the night her son was too stupid to take the big old wad of gum out of his mouth before he stepped onstage with Diana Ross!)

@waynej2608

I liked how Diana pulled that woman on stage too & encouraged her just like the men. I knew at 6:19 she was about to break into her church voice. She just has a light-lyrical soprano voice but not to be confused with a weak voice, not at all. Her voice is so pretty. She is a very good soul singer too!

Diana Ross is a walking treasure, I love the fact that she doesn't attach herself to so called stars or celebrities. I see all these lesser stars from the past all up in front of cameras and taking pictures with any stars they can to stay relevent. +classanddignity I keep forgetting her singing roots are from church choirs. She proves this in her 1987 tv special RHRB. Her voice is absolutely amazing on that 99 number. I couldn't even believe it was her singing, it was soo good. Amazing versatility. She never let her voice get pigeon holed into one style, one of the secrets of her great success
While the hits were not coming as often as they did in the 60's, Diana was still the most popular female singer in the world.
Amazing performance...and honestly, I would wear that dress today. This kind of thing will probably never happen again, having a superstar of Miss Ross' stature singing live on a TV show, inviting the audience on stage with her. Great stuff.
In 1976 I had the exact same Leisure Suit. We had the best times back then. I love this video. ❤️
They Cloned Tyrone (2023) brought me to this magnificent experience. 🥰
C'est un morceau très savoureux du disco !!!!!!! Elle mélange voix et une sensualité certaine, elle était extraordinaire !!!!!!!!!!!
What a queen! It took a minute to get their asses up.
Even too this day, she has not been topped as the most dynamic female performer too ever hit the stage. There will never be another like her. This is proof how she just commands the stage and connects to the audience.
What an incredible performance!!!
The Jones Girls on background vocals....this is one of disco's greatest anthems. Definitely top 3, where disco tunes are concerned. its an all time great. She took the blueprint Donna Summer gave us, with the sex-kitten vocal, and ran with it on this jam. Its one of my favorite tunes, period. And I got like 7 different (remix) versions on flash drive. All Hail, 'Lady Supreme'.
She looks amazing... She gets loose and I love that about Diana Ross because she had fun on stage and that makes her really amazing!! I did notice that the guy did play enough with her and that kind of diminish it but Lady Di soldier on and her dress is STUNNING!!

She is beyond amazing… such a singer, a diva, contagious smile, beautiful woman, she lacks nothing. I’m so happy and grateful for her music.
That's Grammy Award winner Miss Ross to you. She was an incredible live performer who didn't need all the props Weird how such a big star could connect with an audience so well.
What can one say except; Ladies & Gentlemen; Ross THE BOSS!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
You can tell she genuinely loved what she was doing. It's also interesting that she is doing the long version of this wonderful tune with the seldom heard first verse. Back in 1976 when I was 12 and this song was often on the radio, they usually played a shorter version that contained the second verse and going straight into the disco part.
The brilliant voice of Miss Diana Ross a true legend and a trailblazer just for the record she sold more number one hits than any female artist in this date great performance love hangover.

Man, if this isn't one of the most passionate, soulful songs. How could you not want to get outta your seat and deal with the hangover. "If there's a cure for this, I don't want it." What a line. And when she lets it out, so sexy.
Peace out. 🕺🏾🎼🎼
Ms. Ross, unstoppable
So blessed to be living at the same time as this legend! Hope I get the chance to see her live.
