Brand new mix from the multitracks. The individual tracks showed even more clearly what a wonderful song and arrange this classic is. This was a true labor of love! I hope you enjoy this new mix and video!

Happy Happy Birthday Val 🎉
Shes absolutely beautiful she radiates beauty..love to hear her voice..she's amazing
I'm coming out, I'm coming out I'm coming out, I'm coming out I'm coming out, I'm coming out I'm coming out I want the world to know Got to let it show I'm coming out I want the world to know Got to let it show. There's a new me coming out And I just have to live And I wanna give I'm completely positive I think this time around I am gonna do it Like you never knew it Oh I'll make it through The time has come for me To break out of the shell I have to shout That I am coming out. I've got to show the world All that I wanna be And all my abilities There's so much more to me Somehow I'll have to make them Just understand I got it well in hand And oh how I've planned I'm spreading love There is no need to fear And I just feel so good Every time I hear I'm coming out I want the world to know Got to let it show I'm coming out I want the world to know Got to let it show.
A one in a century song. Eternal.

Miss Diana did not know the connotations of the song, the “I’m coming out” and the gay anthem of the song. When finding out she immediately wanted it pulled for fear of it ruining her brand but instead it was a hit and she embraced the song. I personally don’t know her true feelings but totally understand and respect it was a different world and some battles people just didn’t want. Im 50 and when I was young I thought they should have the same rights as everyone else but the inclusiveness movement has gotten out of hand. Even my gay son tells me he doesn’t broadcast that he is cuz he doesn’t believe in the extremes everything has been pushed on society. Another words he wanted a world where he could love/live with a man and live his life not piss in a woman’s bathroom or trans story time with 6 year olds. I’ve learned so much from him and it made me wonder how many other gay people may oppose everything that is being pushed upon our society. Honestly not trying to offend anyone.

,Berry Gordy revolutionized the Music Industry with the motown sound. So many artists took from the motown sound. Prior to the motown sound, the music was Blues and Jazz, Rock and Roll, Acoppollo, Doowhop. It was really no unique sound until Berry Gordy came with the motown sound; And from the motown sound came all the other sounds: R n B, Disco, Pop, hip hop, 70s sound of groups trying to emulate the Motown Group. Finally, one group took from the Motown Sound but was able to modernized and update the sound to this present day. This who did this was Chic. Listen carefully to Chic beat and you will hear The Motown Sound. In other words, Chic made Hip Hop or Rap, R n B, Pop. Nile Roges of Chic was the 2nd coming of the Motown Sound. Even Quincy Jones took from the Berry Gordy Motown Sound- Bingo

@@seanross1558 Yes indeed-I agree with you 💯 %! Make that 110%!!! There are VERY few artists that could be called “Genius”! Berry Gordy,Quincy Jones,Nile Rodgers and the late great Bernard Edwards are all VERY deserving of that Title!!! They made Pop,Dance and Soul/R&B music the forces they are today!!!

TheMotownBoy, pls let me know where you downloaded those tracks from, am wanting to also do, a remix, and maybe a redo on the drum tracks. Hope to hear from, and I am fond of your version, some more great ideas for me.
Is that Fonzi Thornton with Nile and Bernard behind the board?
❤❤❤❤❤👌👌💃💃💃🕺🕺💃💃💃💃
I've always been perplexed by the drum track prior to settling in. Could it have been a guide track for horn overdubs which were eventually left out? Also, the phrasing of the song really threw me when I was transcribing it. To me it is a seven measure phrase but a measure seems to have been added for the horn swell to happen.
I have 😮
Please talk about the original CHIC version vs the released Diana version and your opinions on it. It sounds like you dug out Meco's other trombone takes.

Hi LeftatAlbu... Thank you for commenting. The original Chic version sounds a little unfinished with respect to the lead vocals. In interviews, Nile Rodgers has said that they wanted Diana to be free-form and improvise, which she did. However, it sounds like there should have been a follow-up session to re-do certain parts. She ended up re-recording most of her lead vocals anyway at Motown's studios. I have often thought, based on the result and on some things said in interviews, that Miss Ross and Messrs. Rodgers and Edwards had a difficult time working on this project. Many songs on the album like "My Old Piano", "Have Fun", and even "Upside Down" have lead vocals that still needed some further refinement. I think that Rodgers and Edwards were barely able to get what they got because the working relationship ended prematurely and and they decided to present the best finished product they could with what they had. In terms of production quality, the Chic mix is very compressed, which could be mostly the mastering, but the drums just blend in with the rest of the instruments and lack the punch and presence found in Motown's mix. Regarding the trombone solo in this mix, this is the same solo as on the Motown version. What are your opinions about the Chic and Motown mixes?
@Leftatalbuquerque

@@themotownboy1 Interesting that you thought the originals sounded "compressed"... I don't know that I have the ears to discern that, but I agree it sounds thick and mushy to my ears (I have the Digipac CD package so I can compare) and I prefer the released Diana version (but then, I did hear that one first, so perhaps I am biased). It makes me wonder that the other CHIC albums were more of a "group" sound, rather than an accompaniment that shows off a singer. I have worked for many years as a cabaret accompanist, so I'd like to think I know the difference! How do you get the multitracks? Are they available for purchase? I have a friend that uses Legitmix, and as I never have, I don't know much about how it works. Thanks for the note! I've enjoyed your work over the years since I discovered you here. Christopher
