this accomishment is out of the box. im a triathlete who has swam on the ocean and i know how hard it is but i cant imagine doing it that long. TRUE INSPIRATION!!!

I met Dyana in 1977. I was 18, working at a gas station outside Philly. She drove in. I recognized her because she was on Carson the night before. I filled her tank. I asked if she was DNyad, and she said yes. Like an imbecile I didnt ask about her, I asked about Carson. Ugh. She was amazing, though.

She failed another two more times I believe, but she never gave up. At 64, to accomplish what she did? She knew the risks, but she took all the chances

The sour grapes sound like people who are rubbed wrong by the fact that Nyad looks at it competitively and sees herself as a winner. There's no problem by that. You can see in this ridiculous feat what a natural competitive desire can accomplish.

I think it’s amazing for someone to force themselves through this, but to unnecessarily force yourself through something, risk your life, put others on standby, all the manpower and planning involved. Someone forcing themselves to persevere through an emergency situation is one thing, but deliberately putting yourself in one is another

Then raise children like took who think women can't be tough. That is the toughest thing anyone could every do.
