What a chance it had been to be a teenager during the ‘90s.. music back then was amazing, my TV always turned on MTV (or MCM depending on what was going on).. the shows and VJ’s were great, guests at the peak of their carreer.. no real TV bullshit… what a decade… nostalgic a lot of those times…

2:16- 2:45 is my favourite part of the whole song her strong Jamaican accent comes through🇯🇲✊🏾

So it’s English, but because it was a language for slaves to use to try and communicate with each other, eventually that generation of slaves had children and so their first language was very simple, broken, and undeveloped English. And as each generation had more generations of children whose first language was indeed English, the language was developed to fill in all those missing parts that you expect in a language, but that were added in over time as needed and usually, what they filled the blanks with, was NOT English like most English speakers use it but it IS 100% mutually intelligible with the Queen’s English and American English. Patois- Wa gwaan? Comes from- Where are you going? But it means- What’s up? Patois- Mi duh yah, yuh know! Comes from- I’m (me) there, you know? But it means- I’m fine!

This is beyond amazing. Nothing will ever compare to 90s music
