Diana was only 19 years old when she married the 31 year old Charles. She told her older sisters Jane & Sarah about Charles’ involvement with Camilla. They told her that it was too late to cancel the wedding because the towels were already monogrammed! Most likely, they did not want to endure the public humiliation of encouraging their younger sister to embarrass the monarchy by calling off the wedding of the decade! Diana married for love, and grew to enjoy the privilege and wealth her newly acquired position gave her. Unlike most aristocrats, she expected complete faithfulness in her marriage. Her downfall was that she constantly looked for love in all the wrong places and with men whom she could pull their strings. I believe she would still be alive had not she went on holiday with Dodi! She trusted his judgement in selecting a driver that should have never gotten behind the wheel of a car! She took too many risks with a perfect stranger!!!

Chichi Udaku I totally agree! Going against family advice (especially one’s elders) is not a pleasant nor easy thing to do! I always remember Shakespeare’s famous quote “This above all: To thine own self be true.” In other words, you are the ONLY person who knows 100% what the cost to self will be in any given situation! Others, who stand to benefit, should not be permitted to weigh in on your decision, if they cannot put their selfish (self first) motives aside!

Being neglected and cheated by your own husband is so painful. Which could really lead you to searching for someone who could love and be with you for the rest of his life. The fact that Princess Diana was still young when they got married, her husband and his mistress ruined her life.

My mom was from Hong Kong and left for the US before the United Kingdom returned it to China in 1997. I remember my mom talking about how she loved Diana and how she stayed up watching her wedding in the middle of the night here in the states. I remember her crying the day Diana died and she also stayed up for her funeral. I wondered how she could cry so much for someone she never met. Now I understand. My mom left this earth in 2003 at 45 years of age. I like to think she finally got to meet the princess she loved so much❤

Lol Im calling you out & saying it never happened . First off she would never say that while receiving flowers in a crowd she'd shake your hand & keep it moving . Small kids & the elderly she'd pause for a brief moment but those words would never come out her mouth to a perfect stranger .

My grandma used to love telling me stories about the royal family ever since I was a little girl. That was "our" thing. When we were apart, we would talk for hours on the phone. She knew everything. But she wasn't ever gossipy-like, she loved talking about the nice things. She loved talking about Princess Diana. So in 2005, we went to Texas and I took her to the museum where they were going to display Princess Diana's dresses, including her wedding gown, and her family's history. I remember I was 25 yrs old, and I was pushing my 85-year old grandma on her wheelchair, going from display to display, admiring it all and leaning down and hearing my grandma talk about the Princess. My grandma passed away a couple of years later. That was my last greatest memory with her, seeing her so happy that day, taking it all in like a 5-year old in Disneyland. I loved my grandma more than anything. She was the greatest lady to ever live, in my eyes. So much grace and so much love put together. Thank you Princess Di for giving us such an incredible special time and memory together. R.I.P.

I genuinely never understood why people fawned over her so much. 1) People's princess? Her family was all but royalty with the money to show it. 2) Mother Theresa who died in the same window and got overshadowed by her gave up a fortune and did good through genuine hardship. Diana never gave up a sandwhich never mind suffered. Im not saying she didnt do good but her stardom to this day still puzzles me. To me she is like the Khardasians, famous for being famous but with slightly more intelligence and grace. But hey, to each their own. Some people dig on Pol Pot.

Ill admit I am still trying to reconcile what you noted with her giving up a fortune to do the work of God as well as the good she actually did do. Its a tough one but I still have to note her as more worthy of recognition of Diana and considering the time the 2 died its an apt comparison. Thank you for bringing that up, it is worth noting although if I did it it would have diluted my point. Thumbs up for you!

Med Cen Regardless of any of it, all Diana had to do is show up at a charity and it in turn would be funded, millions would filter in to help and she did this for many many a charity and thanks to her off spring those charities are still thriving, Princess Diana did much more than anyone gives her credit for, she gave the sick and dying Love and kindness and it pored out from her heart to them and they Will Never Forget Her For That!

I loathe that despicable woman. She knew better. Camilla is garbage.

They should have let them get married in the first place instead of forcing him to get married t a woman he did not love. That Camillagate tape I'm just like 😯😯😯?? Really sad that her marriage ended before it began. The affairs that followed were inevitable as were done in revenge. She deserved better. Whoever is doing this voiceover is completely overlooking the fact that prince charles was already cheating on Diana long before Diana sought out love with other partners. Prince Charles had continued to carry out this not so secret relationship with camilla but Diana’s face is slandered because she couldn’t take the years of neglect while Charles was calling/visiting/and sending gifts to camilla. We now look back at Diana with love and affection. I remember the years when the media hounded her and thought quite differently of her. Shameless pack of wolves. And the public for lapping it up.

I love how this documentary is tailored in such a way to put Diana in the bad light in every way possible yet the people here have nothing but love and respect for her and sympathy for what she went through. Maybe next time try to make documentary at least A BIT unbiased....would make you all look a little less idiotic :)

I agree. Charles was talking about wanting to be a tampon, but she had ill advised affairs. I agree having affairs wasn’t the best thing , but get serious if your husband was talking about being a woman’s feminine hygiene product, how would you feel. Charles had the balance of power in that relationship and abused it.

There are millions of married women who have been betrayed and tossed out like garbage and without money or a home. They've struggled to put food on the table and had to cope with shock and devastation and exhaustion from struggling simply to survive. Diana just lost her husband and still lived in luxury free to do what she wanted , had her relationships, travelled etc. I'd say she had a good life all in all.

After listening and watching this documentary about the Life of Princess Diana, i am greatly embarrassed at how the authors of the same can choose to be so so mean to her by portraying her as the bad estranged royal wife and mother. it is Camilla who should be judged for causing the end to Diana's marriage and death. There's so many aspects to Diana's life that makes me feel sad. She was so innocent and naive upon entering the marriage. I think she truly did love him. When she wore the strapless black gown, she looked so beautiful and she thought it to be a more "grown up" dress to wear. She had such a lovely figure but should've had help regarding what would've been more appropriate. To be such a beautiful woman, she lacked self-esteem and Charles certainly didn't help to boost it. It seems that he never made her feel beautiful. Of course, that's looking at it from what we are able to see in public. It's complicated OR it's just too simple and I overthink it...trying to find some glimmer of hope that he didn't ALWAYS fail her. EDIT: forgot to mention that I never realized how much Diana looked like her mother

Sad that Charles never intended to stop cheating from the beginning of the marriage. Shows a complete lack of respect and commitment towards Diana. I think this could have happened differently.

US citizen here and this lady had a great impact on my family when she passed. I remember everyone being so devastated. My mother cried for days. Rest easy princess. They were lucky to have had you, even if they didn’t realize it.

She had no support from any Royal. It was so cold & cruel. Every Royal turned out to be the peasants & Diana the Aristocrat. It left a bad mark on all of them. Because of the vulgarity. It should have embarrassed the Royals. Charles was never particularly handsome, & there was nothing nice or respectful about Camilla & certainly nothing sophisticated. But is it all forgotten now? It was a dark time at the Palace. There is so much recorded video.

and to think now charles and camilla are happily married ....i don't care how petty it sounds, i don't think they deserve a happy ending, they were both sooo wrong.

TeMpThAnG Diana made plenty of mistakes too and I would not think of her that way. C n C should have been together from the beginning. Shows you how shallow the Royals were to stand in Charles way. His marriage to Diana was tragic for everyone

@@MTknitter22 the difference was he never gave their marriage a legit chance. camilla was never out of the picture. she stayed low key until diana gave charles a son. then it was back to the affair with no remorse. he had diana completely. but she for sure never had HIM completely.
