I love that Steve Trevor never seemed threatened by Diana. Just in awe of her. In fact, the biases that were knee-jerk reactions for him (protecting her, telling her to step back) seemed to dissipate the minute she’d hold her own. He’d be like, “😳 oh, aight. My bad. As you were”, like in this scene 😂.

I love how the whole point of this movie was that there isn’t always a big bad guy to blame for violence. Violence can often be just the nature of humanity, with no real villains or heroes. And then they *RUIN* that message by having Ares still be the bad guy Diana has to fight. It would have been way more interesting if she confronted him and he just said “Oh I didn’t start this war, I haven’t contributed to it at all in fact. I’ve just been watching humanity tear itself in two.” They TRY to pull that shit, but then once Diana beats him the war just ends, like wtf.

  • @christopherfeatherley

I agree. When I was watching this years ago, in the theatre, I was in hopes Diana was proven wrong--something that rarely happens in films towards protagonists. The fight scene with Ares was impressive, but, it defeats the entire purpose of mankind being its own folly--without any outside force. Stil, this was a memorable film.

Actually, they didn't RUIN the message because we all know the Wars did not stop after Diana defeated Ares. WW2, Korean War, Cold War, etc. up to the time where Superman came to Earth, till Justice League, Wars are still rampant across the planet. That is because it is the nature of Humans and needed not any intervention from the God of War.

ares's only contribution was saying "now i know you like fighting with sticks but what about this sword instead? Oh i see you love that sword i gave you- how about a nice machine gun?" "I merely gave them the weapons- i didnt make them use them" He helped accelerate conflicts impact He did try to make an armistice- knowing they wouldnt keep it. But imagine if they had, what if they proved him wrong? But they never were going to prove him wrong In the end, ares is always right (or least how he would view it)

The real reason the man (Ares in disguise) was shocked and had trouble speaking, was not actually because she was a woman. It was probably because Ares could recognize Diana. The way his face whitened and he started to stutter... Is because he knew that Diana was Zeus' secret weapon who was destined to foil Ares if he was to plot anything evil.

I know Gal Gadot is not exactly a trained actress as the rest of her colleagues and many of her performances are not as powerful, but when it comes to Diana's calmest behaviors: as her quiet amazement of finding herself in a new world or her confusion when the men try to intimidate her are very natural and her little glances and head held high are very in tune with the character, whereas a more skilled actress might have actually overdid it. Patty did a very good job directing and Gal as Diana.

I really loved this movie, I remember being the only one in the theater watching it, literally had the entire cinema to myself. When i finished it I was inspired to just walk the 5 miles back home through the forest just to see how long it was. Its a shame the 2nd movie wasn't as good.

@@SHyperionS Yeah, The theater's by a highway surrounded by forest. Walked 5 miles just to see the distance and experience it Took about 1 -2 hours. Puts it into perspective what people went through back then without motor transportation. Was long, boring but peaceful

The scene where Diana caught the bullet, was it a Easter egg scene of 78’ superman? If it is, I’m so happy for the person who planned out this scene😊 you guys actually gave some respect to The late Christopher Reeves.😀
