But I have nobody to bless me.

This is an old wedding ritual song, it's like a puzzle, it consists of phrases taken from ritual songs. Where it is sung in a whisper is like the words of a deceased mother, because in Russia since ancient times it was believed that the river is the border between the world of the living and the dead, as in the mythology of others countries. So the girl-orphan came to the river to tell the mother that she was being given away for the unloved, to a strange family, ask for blessings and cry.

This song is the first one she performed in her native language during the "You Are Super" contests. Here, she is doing the song a 2nd time at the home of the producer. The setup caused a lot of feedback, especially in the opening stanza. This ancient song is about a young orphan forced to wed and leave her home. The river represents a way to speak to the dead, as the bride-to-be says she has no one to bless her. I prefer the version done in front of the judges, but this one is close to it. А песня древняя русская про то как девушка сирота идёт к реке просить благословение у усопших родителей на брак . так в старину верили в поту сторонний мир а река как граница между этим миром и тем. The Russian wedding ceremony for the bride’s side was always accompanied by plaintive and sad songs - after all, the girl was leaving her family forever for someone else’s family, that is, symbolically “dying” for her relatives. Hence the very genre of wedding songs of the bride and her bridesmaids was called “weepings or laments,” and the symbolism of “dying” and farewell was expressed by the image of a river, which among all Indo-European peoples was considered the border between the world of the living and the dead. Therefore, it was especially often used in a separate subgenre of wedding songs - when the bride was an orphan and therefore no one could bless her for marriage (a mandatory action in both pagan and Christian times). This performance was wonderful, but the quality of the video of her performance on the You’re Super tv program was much better and has become iconic. You would do well to follow the suggestions from Kwstas (Constantine) Vagias in choosing videos for reactions to attract Diana’s fans. He is responsible for making the videos of many of her performances available to her fans outside of her country.

This song is about a battle between families where her family were all killed except her and she was asking for Gardens to the river on her wedding day which she had to marry somebody from the other family who she did not choose representation of the river is life of the ancestors which was their beliefs back in those days

As others have said below, this is the wrong video,. It is something of a tragedy that you have reacted to it rather than to the far superior - and immortal -performance of the song that Diana had given earlier on 2018 You are Super, when she was still 14. If you react to that performance too you will understand. (The video of it is posted on Constantine's channel Kwstas Vagias. He has recently re-posted it in "superior" quality. That is the one to go for.)

Она спрашивает реку и укоряет ее,что она даже не колыхнется в ответ?" И Ей кажется что река отвечает ей голосом матери и спрашивает,почему ее дитя не улыбается? Девушка рассказывает,что двор полон коней,а комнаты гостей...зовёт подруг и горько жалуется: нет у меня ни отца,ни матери,не у кого просить благословения Но река течет себе ,течет далекооо и не отвечает ей

"Recenka" is an old Slavic wedding song for crying. I know it sounds strange, but the old Slavs believed that if they cry over the fate of the newlyweds, misfortune will think that the newlyweds are already unhappy and there is no work for her, so she will move on. As for the plot of the song, the poor woman marries into a rich house. However, she has neither mother nor father to bless her. And blessing is one of the prerequisites for a happy and prosperous marriage. Therefore, she goes to the river (according to Old Slavic belief, the river is the border between the living and the dead) and asks the river and the spirits that guard the river to convey to her the blessing of her father and mother from the world of the dead.
