Greetings from Scotland! This song has been covered by many, many singers, but none has had the profound effect that Diana's voice had on me when I listened to this! Diana released this as a tribute to the fallen in the great wars. Diana's Grandad on her new mothers side is remembered by the family every May 9th - Pavel Ivovich Ponik - Guard Sergeant, Red Army. So this date means a lot to Diana and her new family. The song comes from 1933, composed by Lev Knipper and Viktor Gusev. The song was sung from the perspective of a young Red Army soldier going off to defend his people and homeland. A terrifying prospect which I cannot even imagine! Diana has a masterful ability to convey the emotions as if she were that young soldier! Great reaction as always. ------ Привет из Шотландии! It's been a while since I was in Bavaria, such a staggeringly beautiful part of the world! It was pointed out to me the last time I was there, in no uncertain terms, that Bavarians are Bavarian, not German! Hi Josh - I believe that the song actually predates World War II and was written in 1933 or 1934 and harkens back to the Russian Civil War (1917-23), however it's sentiments are perfectly appropriate for the commemoration of the end of WW II.

Как уже говорил кто то из коментирующих на чью то реакцию на эту песню. Диана превратила походную песню в реквием. В реквием павшим солдатам-защитникам своей Родины. Я бы, сказал в более широком смысле - реквием не скреплённый временными рамками. Хотя конечно главный посыл к событиям ВОВ 1941-1945 гг.
