zak villarreal jewellers saw blades - Superpike brand are good. Size 2/0 for general use. They last no time at all - expect to break dozens, but they’re cheap (20c)

I wondered the same thing but didn't bother looking to buy it online. They're really easy to make. I had some 20 gauge steel sheet metal lying around that was left over from another project. It's easy to find at most hardware stores, but make sure it's not galvanized! (If it is, you could submerse it in white vinegar for about 24 hours to remove galvanization) I used shears to cut a 1" wide strip, about a foot long, and "coiled" it by hand with a pair of needle-nosed pliers. It works very well... but it's rigid, not springy.

Can you use pure silver to make a ring or will it tarnish? Could I melt down some old silver quarters? Thanks

adding a 10% copper to the alloy you get a stronger silver

Pure silver doesn't oxidize, you won't even have to pickle it after melting it. Alloying it with copper makes stirling silver, which is stronger/stiffer but will oxidize slightly.

Using 10% copper you get a silver alloy that slightly oxidizes, I like the effect you get with oxidation-induced shadows. it is still my own personal taste.

I think I would be very scared when setting the stones, in case I put too much pressure on one side, and they break. Does this ever happen, or have you just learnt through practice and experience how much pressure and tapping it takes?

it is very difficult to break the diamonds, it happens very few times and when it happens it is because it has badly hardened the stone seat.
