This has gotta be one of my top 3 favprite story lines that aren't main scenario. Gaius is so amazing and this story really hit deep

YEET!! After Gaius's whole story arc from ARR to here, seeing his face contort with grief did me in. When a man that strong can't hide his pain, how am I supposed to NOT cry?

Bastard like Valens doesn't even deserve to have a proper burial. His corpse just got yeeted to the open fields.

"Fun" Fact. When Gaius Ask's him "Alphonse" The light goes once for Yes! When Gaius says "I have failed you", the light goes twice for No! look at Diamonds lights in its head.

Some people got a little disappointed because the Diamond Weapon didn't had Zenos' simulacrum but HOLY FUCK how can you be disappointed when the Diamond Weapon is actually an artificial Primal? Think about it: it has the minds and wishes of everyone gathered by Alfonse to clap Valens' cheeks, it is powered by aether and could even "temper" Allie. It's not tempering how we know because Overmind just takes over the consciousness, hence her mental breakdown, not her soul like Oversoul and common Primal tempering. And even the attack with "Auri" on it. Auri is the collective for Au Ra. EDIT: By the way, Gaius' ultimate move, Terminus Est: Crocea Mors, is a reference to Gaius Julius Caesar's sword, Crocea Mors the Yellow Death (the translation from Latin). And Terminus Est means "This is the end".

Really speaks testament to the writer for this quest for making me care about these relatively new characters, with the limited screen time they had. When I first met them after Ruby Weapon, I thought they were just going to be new characters they threw in for these trial quests to round out the end of the expansion; basically forgettable. But the great writing wound up touching me more than I thought, and put me in the world of these orphans and their plight. In the end, I shed a few tears. That says a lot.

In case you missed it in that final scene, the birds represented Alphonse and the others.

This side story could have been it's own single player RPG as a spin off. Where you start out as Gaius the bad guy but slowly you go thru this redemption arc. I would definitely buy that game.

I agree! The whole quest line's story could easily be a game on its own with how enjoyable it was from start to finish!

The children can still be seen running around Terncliff

RIP M'naago Sorrow of Werlyt was excellent and Feelsbringers worthy. Best trial storyline.

This one hit me differently.

So I've been trying to translate "Terminus est Crochea Mors," and I'm having a helluva time trying to translate "crochea," especially since I can't find any latin declensions that end with an A. So I've found several translations of dubious accuracy. As best I can tell, it either means a bishop's staff using a feminine inflection (I like to think of this as "Allie giving the bastard divine justice" or some such) or saffron, also with a feminine inflection (maybe saffron has certain cultural connotations I'm missing?) I'm going to assume it's the latter, and thus I translate it roughly as, "Saffron Death from the End!" During this time, I found out something interesting: Julius Ceasar's name. We all know Romans often had three names. What I found was the first name, the "praenomen," was the persona name given to a child by his or her parents. Next was the "nomens," meaning the person's gens, which is basically a clan, extended family, or "descendants of a common ancestor." Finally, the "Cognomen," a further personal name, could be used as an informal title or an epithet. So with our favorite Roman "dictator perpetuo," Julius was the gens or "family" name, Caesar was a title/epithet meaning "emperor." So what was his praenomen, his given/true name? Gaius.

Eden as well but these sub quest stories have been sooo good!

RIGHT????? I genuinely wasn't thinking the ending would be THIS good. It really caught me off guard haha

All non-main scenario in ShB expansion are doing a marvelous job: Eden line, Weapon line and Nier line. Resistance Weapon line had a strong start with Cid flash back but I personally feel the plot became normal after we hit into the Bolzar warfield. Anyway, I can't wait to see what we have in Endwalker!
