I want to share my particular method of tufting in leather. No much variation if we compare it with traditional ways most of furniture upholsterers accomplish it worldwide (my best recognition to all of them).
As mentioned in the video I am using a semianiline 1.2 mm thick zebu bull leather hide, because I wanted to emulate old upholsterers who used to work with thick leathers. Of course in those days there were no current foams, dacrons, nor staples and leather diamond tufting was done by using tacks, burlap; horse hair, cotton and other paddings. Later on, first automobiles were also upholstered with 'leather diamond tufting designs'.
To get easier and nicer outcomes I would like to recommend the use of pliable thin leathers. It could be 0.7, 08 to 1 mm as a maximum.
I hope you enjoy and find the video useful!

I would recommend the use of a thinner and pliable leather material 0.6, to 1 mm no more. If you feel this method is somehow difficult in next coming video I would show the easiest way to diamond tuft without any sewing.
Thanks bro

Hi Cechaflo. I have a question. Why u dont just pull down the leather with the buttons?
@Cechaflo
Good question! What you said is true. I would have used that method if I would have used a thinner and softer leather material. Short diameter buttons are useful for this purpose. Bigger buttons when pulled and pressed down do not let properly line up the foldings. Because of, a thick leather I have used a method of old crafstmen. Besides, these pre-made knots alleviate the button tensioning. Thanks for watching these videos!
nice

QUESTION !!!💯Can this diamond tufting be done in let's say a 60s or 70s chevy benchseat..or not because u need to pull the string and stable on wood and the benchseat doesnt have that..I did it on furniture w my grandpa as a kid he did upholstery..but now I'm older can this be done on car upholstery benchseat 60s style benchseat without being way too much of a hassle and over customizing thanks!!
@Cechaflo
It is not necessary to be stable on a wood piece. Some furniture sofas have this design on the backrest fastened with strings tied up in the back to the webbing straps. You could handle that way. To ease the process in cars it is advisable to sew 'half moon' lines of stitches on each one of the diamonds as I show in this video:kzread.info/dash/bejne/o5ZnsausgKraj5s.html Same method used on Cadillacs: i1.wp.com/www.curbsideclassic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/IMG_3805.jpg This way could also work out for car seats:kzread.info/dash/bejne/omF5w5eOprvVf9o.html
Thanks for your videos. I'm from Russia. I want to start making furniture. Tell me, please, in your opinion, what to choose to begin with - a chair, sofa, sofa? To make less mistakes and sell faster? What material is better to use at the beginning?
@Cechaflo
Hello Aleksandr, Furniture is not my specialty, but I would give an opinion. Chairs and sofas at the same time, working with fabric material. Upholstery fabrics are much easier to handle.

@Cechaflo
@franciscogutierrez2337

@Cechaflo
😍
Me gusta mucho y guiero aprendel aselo.

@Cechaflo
