When I was still in school, my mom brought home a canary with the name Jason to babysit while the owner was away on a business trip. I fell in love with it, so much so, he let me keep it. About a year later, I came home from school to see my mom balling next to it's empty cage. We never close the door on the cage so the little guy was free to enter and leave whenever he pleased. It always flew back into the cage when we draped it with a blanket that had a little flap covering a hole cut out of it for the open cage door. He knew it meant it was time for bed. My mom forgot to close one of the windows in the apartment and it flew out. It was a long shot, but my mom asked me to print out several hundred lost/reward flyers to stick on the entrance of several hundred apartment buildings. Knowing the impossible odds, I put a $500 reward on the flyer. She spent the entire day posting them. About 2 hours after my mom left to post the flyers, someone living a couple of blocks away left a voice mail saying our canary flew into his apartment. It was because he forgot to close the balcony door after watering his plants just a few minutes before the canary flew in. The first thing that popped into my head was"where the F am I going to get $500" because I was still in school. I called him up and informed him I'll drop by in a few days after I raise the 500 bucks. He said don't worry about the money, I could come by anytime to grab the canary. My mom gave me a fancy gift basket loaded with all sorts of delicacies to give him. He had the canary in a shoe box and when I removed the cover, it just stood there. After a few minutes, it jumped up onto one of the edges of the box and started looking around the room for a few minutes. When it recognized it was home, he started chirping loudly and flew into it's bedroom. My mom was sobbing in happiness and Jason would bring joy to our home for 8 more years. I once came home very late after some night fishing and noticed we were out of his 3 favorite breakfast foods. Romano lettuce, broccoli florets and fresh water chestnuts. It knew the difference between canned and fresh water chestnuts and disapproved if they were canned. Drove around the city at 3AM looking for a 24 hour fruit and vegetable market for whole water chestnuts, and found one 45min away. Jason passed away in 2005 and it still stands as the saddest day of my life. Vowed never to have another pet again. We buried it next to a playground we drove by everyday to say hi and it was within view of our balcony.

Popped up in YT feed and I was captivated immediately. This is the cutest thing I've seen in ages! They're all adorable but that Firetail is exquisite. She looks like a gemstone! Beautiful bird!!

So cute. I love birds. Especially the small ones. Worked as a gardener for a couple of years and whenever we would dig a hole, they would come over right away to look for worms and other small insects. On hot summer days i built little water basins for them in my lunchtime. So relaxing to watch them play and bathe.

So sweet. So trustful, in the hands that bath them, sure also feeding them. How much I love these little innocent souls 💙🙏

I’d love to have some birds one day when I have room to give them a large space and the money and time to give them the attention and care they deserve. Finches are so precious and beautiful.

That is the sweetest thing I've ever come aross, to open the day with.

@@Our-Creator-Loves-Us ok, but you DON'T know how the universe was made, even if you know something about god, it doesn't mean you know how the universe was made and if it was an explosion, then its not a surprise BC you can see much more explosions on universe that make stars, and other planets when you use some cheap telescope observation. So, just think more in your words before writting something that you dont have 100% confirmation that it can be true

It’s in the Bible, in Genesis 1:3: “Then God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” It’s possible that a large explosion happened when God spoke those words. Likewise, when I said “explosion,” I meant the Big Bang, a belief held by many atheists - I’m not referring to every explosion in space. Nonethless, I strongly believe in Creation, because God exists (I also believe the Bible is God’s Word) and that a mere Big Bang did not create the very detailed and beautiful universe we see.

Finches can be incredibly affectionate little birds if you get them young enough; my aunt had a flock of about 6 of them and every time I'd come over they'd all lineup on my shoulders and just peep to me

The first bird, who takes their sweet time, enjoying the water, even to a point of coming back again later! The second bird, who takes the running water as a challenge, tries to bite at it, then takes a shower instead, before flying off. The third bird, who has been waiting patiently the whole time, fluttering and flapping, only to have their attempts at a bath so rudely interrupted by the first bird! These little critters are so full of personality! Birds are such wonderful creatures!!
