Art historian, biographer, curator, and artist, Gail Levin, PhD, widely acknowledged as the expert on husband and wife artists Edward and Jo Hopper, will be interviewed regarding the controversy over the Whitney Museum use of Hopper materials provided by the Rev. Arthayer R. Sanborn family. Levin will be interviewed by Artists Talk on Art co-founder and president Douglas I. Sheer regarding her accusations against the Whitney Museum and its director, Adam D. Weinberg, for what she describes as a scandalous misrepresentation of the Sanborn portion of the Hopper estate, which makes up part of the Edward Hopper exhibition currently on view at the museum through early March.
Dr. Levin, who has appeared several times at ATOA, previously, over its history, was the Edward Hopper curator at the Whitney from 1976 to 1984 and is the author of the definitive Hopper biography, "Edward Hopper: An Intimate Biography" and editor of the Hopper catalog raisonne. She is also the author of noteworthy biographies of Lee Krasner and Judy Chicago.
The ATOA dialogue included a screening of images and clips that illuminate the simmering Hopper controversy, along with insights that only Levin could provide.
Event took place on January 23, 2023.

If her catalog raisonne is compromised and missing thousands of records and art work material due to this sanborn guy...Then art authenticators, appraisers and or scholars should not be using her catalog for authentication purposes!!!
