Dialing in | Clever Dripper | Washed Ethiopian Coffee

We share our process of dialling in a new coffee with the Clever Dripper!
Everyone's method of dialling in can be super different - what we found works for us is :
👉 Having a go-to recipe to start with
👉 Having a brew book to record the recipe + how it tasted
👉 Having a clear plan of how to brew next + reasons
How do you dial in? Is it much different from how we do it?

Hi Bud, For the grind size I would say slightly finer then granulated sugar or if you have a comondante around 28clicks and on our Mahlkonig Ek43 we used it at 14.5. Hope this helps mate

What would you change if using a dark roast?

Hey Gary! Bora here from Curators! It honestly kinda depends. Darker roasted coffees are more soluble, meaning it doesn't need as much time/energy for it to extract. If you find the dark roast quite overwhelming and would like more sweetness than bitterness, 1. I'd try to brew with a lower temperature, (85~90degrees water). From here, if you still find your coffee to be too bitter, 2.I recommend increase the amount of water you're using, OR after your brew, add in hot water to your brew to dilute your brew. (This is called bypassing :D) There's so many different variables that you can change but I'd start with these two, let us know how you go or reach out to us on our instagram and we'd be happy to chat about your brews :D
