Diagnosis: How I Discovered I had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

I thought I was just overworked and over traveled. I never thought leukemia had invaded my body. The night before I was diagnosed I pulled out my camera and opened up about the last couple of months dealing with being exhausted and dealing with severe body cramps that landed me into the hospital.

Wow...this series will be such an inspiration to so many people!! I can only imagine the struggle that a diagnosis like this would have on a person but how you said you are stubborn and you will beat this...I truly believe it!! Such an amazing outlook you have! God has placed you on this path for a reason. It completely breaks my heart that you are having to go through this but you WILL come out so much stronger when you BEAT CANCER for GOOD!! I have FAITH in YOU and I have FAITH in GOD!! Continued prayers for you my friend ❤️

Thank you, Kayla! You’re completely right God did put me on this path for a reason. And for that I’m truly grateful. It brought me closer to him and to my family. In a weird twisted way, cancer saved me.

Do you know what your wbc was before you got diagnosed?

Sadly, no, they told me at the time. However, those numbers faded after chemo and radiation. Are you or a loved one experiencing elevated wbc?

Michael Tolbert I am. My wbc was 13.6 but my wbc has always been abnormal for the last 10 years and I just found out this past September. My doctor seemed concerned about my results so she spoke to an oncologist but they told me not to worry because the highest it has been was 19 and it went down to 13. So idk what’s going on with me, why it has been abnormal for that long.

natalie franco it’s important to know that you need to be your number one advocate. When my oncologist first met with me she remarked that, “My numbers would normally not get a hematologist out of bed...” however, I was experiencing other symptoms. Elevated wbc also doesn’t mean cancer or leukemia. But it could mean your body is fighting off a virus or infection. Definitely ask your doctor about a blood panel and bone marrow biopsy to rule out all variables. And please feel free to reach out anytime! 🧡
