Diagnosing Front End Clicking Sound and Vibration While Turning | VW Golf R
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
As the title suggests, I am having some clicking issues with the MK6 VW Golf R. When I accelerate while turning there is an obvious clicking noise coming from the front left wheel.
In this video I will show you what I am experiencing and provide some insight as to what that problem is, and how I came up with the diagnosis. In the next video I will be fixing the issue in detail so stay tuned for that.
Please let me know if you have any questions in the comment section below!.

Ugh this is exactly what my mk7 golf TDI is doing! Spent $3500 so far replacing parts the dealership diagnosed as bad to no avail! I’ll be sending them this clip Monday morning! Thank you
My Audi A6 C7 has exactly the same issue and I came to the same conclusion as you! Great video. In the course of my investigation I also learned the difference between a Universal Joint and CV Joint - which was interesting :)
Dude this video was awesome! Big visual learner loved the 3D component. I hope someone can help me. I’ve recently had my cv joints changed, had new sway bars put in and I’ve recently cleaned up my coil overs and my car makes this noise only at low speeds and particularly on inclines what could it be ?
Thank you for this video !
Excellent video..Excellent..congrats
I have the exact problem, VW JETTA. It’s very loud and i can feel it in my pedal and steering wheel
I have a 2019 Mazda CX-5 I have a similar noise but a little more subtle. Also on the front left wheel. My problem was actually 2 things. My car has a fair amount of torque so the nose of the car lifts on hard acceleration second problem is wheel hop I have slightly wider stickier Michelin tires rather than the Yokohama geolanders. Long story short the bearing inside the strut was cracked and outer tie rod was bent.
Found the easy way to diagnose a bad cv axle: floor the accelerator from a stop. You should feel harshness or abnormal vibration from the bad side. You might also hear the cv bearings crunching/clunking.
Hi mate happy Christmas to you and happy New year, I have this problem, and my garage are closed for holidays, so might you know how many mile I can do with this sound safely, it's only appear yesterday, and I did only 4 miles since then, will it last like say 1000 miles...? my garage will be open only on 4 of January 2022 cheers mate
Hey I have the issue of just clicking almost the same sound as making a left or right turn single not so much only when I turn but do you what that could be ?
Could a bad wheel alignment caused the axels to go bad? I recently changed the tie rod end and the clicking began
I have the same issue with my Volkswagen polo 2020 and the noise stops when I drive faster like above 25mph. Under 25mph it makes that clicking/grinding/sound. Only when I’m driving at a constant speed. And like as I’m turning and releasing the clutch it makes the sound. Sometimes I can hear like springs as I release the clutch or push it
What if you have a 2 wheel drive with no front cv joints?
I’ve got a 2010 Saab 9-5 ttid. It makes a sound very similar to this when turning corners or going around roundabouts. Mine sounds more like a stone/nail in the tyre but there’s definitely nothing stuck in the tyre. Has anyone else had anything similar to this?
I have same sound when slow. But can't hear much over 30km/h

Me too. Did you figure out what the problem was?
I have the same problem with my Fiat Stilo. It clicks only when turning with throttle, and when I turn the wheel on certain degree. For example 45, 90 etc
i got a 2004 audi b6, and when i accelerate the clicking stops also when i break but if i turn at all or coast it makes a clicking, at 100kph it sounds like a engine break on a truck, poped the car up on some jacks and the front right cv sounds like a pop can being bent in a little when i pull on it is it a axel or something else
My car does this in 3rd gear it’s dsg you think it’s the axle or gearbox previous owner hit a kerb I changed all the wheels
Holy crap. Mine is doing this and i have a jetta si Only does it when in motion
My Audi 2015 q5 has a vibration while turning. No clicking. Humming and vibration. Mechanic said maybe the steering or a recall? But not the cv joints.?
Did u ever figure it out? Mine is the same thing right now. Thanks
Hey man, while your axle was bad, did you notice the car didn't feel 100% right while driving? Not a vibration but the car didn't feel.. confident? Best way I could put it. Sorta like it wants to wander
My 2018 GTI makes that exact noise, I love my car but VW's always has something wrong with them. Now I know what to tell the VW mechanic. Mine is under warranty still, Would it be covered or will they blame the 3rd world Roads here in NY? LOL
what if i already had my cv joint replaced? And im having the noises again. Thanks!

I’ve experienced issues with the steering lock was not adjusted correctly which allowed the wheels to steer beyond the limits of the cv axle. I replaced an axle then immediately broke it by steering beyond the limits of the axle. This happened a couple times before I realized what was going on.
I have the same problem with my Passat cc. Did you hear that sound when full throttle, accelerating fast, or just when turning?

My 2013 TIG, has that exact siund, I have watched a lot of videos and nothing details like this one. Good looking out broski, needed that
Most likely wheel bearing.... sure can be rare situation that the outer CV assembly is defective... but most commonly it is the wheel bearing.
It happens with Mazda vehicles as well. In fact, I had a Mazda CX-3 AWD for nearly 5 1/2 years and had no problems at all. Boom, today, I was getting weird creaking and popping noises when making sharp turns. When I turn slowly, I don't get that noise. I suspect that its a CV Joint, but I'm not sure. I have to take it in to my Mazda dealer in two days, and hopefully it will be fixed in no time. Since Japanese made automobiles are known for being high quality, its strange that Mazda vehicles would have CV Axle problems in less than six years.
I'm kinda having this my problem is that its clicking always not only when I'm turning but also when I'm goin straight would it be this as well?

I have vw cc 2015, I started hearing this noise and clicking and sometimes the steering wheel is shaking!! What killing me is this issue it's comes and goes. Do you think it's the axle

The three most common reasons for a noise like this from the front wheel hub area are: 1 - wheel bearing... 2 - wheel bearing.... 3 - wheel bearing.....

It was the cv joint.
Get to point.
I have the EXACT SAME NOISE and it is driving me insane. - audi a4 avant b9
