If you opt for the TopDon, get the $600ish model because it has 2 way communication and you can do a lot more in-depth diagnosis by being able to test certain components by commanding them via the scanner.

At light abd check engine light on mx 5 2008 miata
I have something very similar to what you have but I can look at abs and srs codes. Also, when you have real life driving scenarios and need to look at live data, it's far superior. You cAn also look at voltages from certain sensors and graph them.

I've used these tools recently for two family members cars, coincidentally both were coil pack faults and using the OBD2 scan tools made diagnosing that much easier.
I like me dongle. I keep it in the Ranger when towing the van in case I get stuck in the bush with a fault

They are super handy and very cheap for what they can help with.
my 1992 na6 miata idle keep fluctuating when I jump the TEN and G to get into diagnotic mode. but the car run perfectly fine however i have a random idle drop at the stop light sometime, would you know why that is?

Grounding to TEN bypasses the idle control. Could be that something around the throttle area needs cleaning, or the idle valve is wearing or dirty.
"...for a lot more cost" *while waving the expensive device around above a concrete floor*
So dumb that the euro spec NB mx5's didn't get OBDII

Unfortunate isn't it. Even in Australia we only got OBD2 on the last run of NB models.
