your sounds were spot on...dont be embarrassed ...sound is one of the best troubleshooting tools i always ask clients to describe the sounds they hear when they have a problem

Hi Alex, I have a 2007 charger 3.5, car was running and it shut off. Towed it home and put my OBD2 and I got P0340 and suggested to replace cam and crank sensor and possibly the VVT sensor! I replace a couple of fuses and noticed I didn’t get any spark at the plugs while cranking?

Hey there is the check engine light on? It sounds like you you have a bad crankshaft sensor

So I have 2009 Charger with the 2.7L. It died yesterday while driving. It will not start back up but cranks good. I tested the battery and battery was weak after charging back up so I replaced my battery. I’ve checked all ground straps and they are good. I have spark, air and power but seems like its not getting fuel. I’m getting 12.62V at the connector on the fuel pump when the key is turned on and I can hear the pump but still a no start. All fuses and relays are good. Serpentine belt spins just fine while cranking. I’m thinking the fuel pump is either weak or bad. What are your thoughts?

If it start good when is cold I guess the battery is good but when it's get a little hot it won't start again it has to be some sensor that it's overhearing you need a diagnostic to check for a code

Regular Gas is what’s recommended for that car, premium gas will not benefit your engine so you’re better off sticking with the recommended regular unleaded.

Mine sounds like this one. Ive replaced both fuel pumps, clockspring, steering angle sensor, all 4 speed sensors, crank shaft sensor, cam shaft sensor, throttle position sensor, and mass airflow sensor. Changed all the sparkplugs. Fuel pump turns on. Battery, alternator, and starter are all good. I have spark. What am i missing?

No I don’t, I have seen many mechanics set the engine bay on fire and also burn themselves using starter for it to start cars.what normally happens when things go sideways the car will back fire through the intake.

Hey there buddy, you can perform a compression check on the engine that would give you a general idea. Also, you can look me up on Instagram and send me a video of it turning over/you trying to crank it and I can hear if it’s out of time or not.

Thanks for the support. If I remember correctly yes same side under seat, you have 2 a transfer pump and fuel pump basically a left and right. Check that fuel pump relay if no voltage is at the pump

@@AlexTheCarDoctor yes Put In New fuel pump and sending unit It started right up ran for about 3 min then stopped The code went to P0335 Replaced,,,,,Crankshaft sensor Long Crank no start No codes coming up at all now This car has had this issue off and on For 3 years,,,certified mechanics have worked on this issue, tired of paying them,,,New computer x 2 have been put in,,,,the second computer has been in the car for about 1.5 years This car purrs like kitten its so quiet Hardly uses oil Have slight Transmission leak Miles ,,,,234567 I'm starting to think its my Tippa ? or wiring,,,,thinking about new computer again,,,Supposedly a great place in North Carolina that does computers,,,the last two came from Flagship I used to be a mechanic in a big factory On big machinery I'm retired now,, Its Greatly appreciated for you to answer My commit Also I found out that Dodge has lifetime warranty on the 19 gallon fuel tanks,,,something about one of the sensors gets hung up or something,,,this isn't a National Re-call for some reason,,some guy on KZread was showing the letter you need to download to have it replaced by the dealer THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE A NATIONAL RECALL ESPECIALLY ON THE 2.7,, Thanks again Alex 👍👍🍻🍻

Not really vacuum leaks will cause higher idle engine may stall or run rough.some symptoms of a bad cat are loss of power, bad mpg,engine misfires, exhaust noise . Both will throw a check engine light

My 08 Charger started flashing a red lightning bolt the other day while I was driving but I turned it off for a second then back on and it seemed to be back to normal. But it has gotten much worse and hardly wants to start now. I scanned the car and it said like 10 different codes including P0301,P0300, P0306, P0652, P0652, P0340, P0868, etc. do you think you know what Is causing it?

What I’m basically seeing is misfire codes and ECM low-voltage codes you may have a wiring issue,depending on your engine size.I have seen corrosion buildup at the computer/ECM.I had a similar issue on a charger with the 5.7 Hemi. The computer is located underneath the crawl,basically the little plastic cover between the hood and the windshield check for corrosion at the computer but before you do that make sure that the battery and charging system is good. Tip anytime you’re working with the electric system make sure the battery is unplugged especially if you unplug the computer that’s a good way to fry your ECM

Hey there those are codes for a crank sensor and oil temperature sensor. The crankshaft sensor code may indicate you have a bad sensor or a wiring issue The second code May just be a bad oil temp sensor. find someone with a good scan tool to hook up to the car and look at the read outs of each sensor

What engine do you have. To start off good battery and a scanner if any thing is chewed up the scanner will point you in the right direction for example code display #2 injector Circuit low, means there is a damage wire

Hello it means the fuel pump is priming the fuel system for quick start, it’s sort of like a old school how you have to pump the gas pedal right before starting

3.5 excessive crankcase pressure.

ok so this damn car came in the shop today. it ran a crankshaft code then i changed it( the one on the housing) but still i get no spark and now i have a damn camshaft code. the fuel pump works and its full of gas. what should i tackle next my guy? i just started this job 3 weeks ago and im trying my best. I hear the next step is the 6.5hr crankshaft position sensor under the exhaust manifold? im asking because they want me to do this tomorrow and i can use some advice plz. id hate to do a all day job for nothing

Hey buddy. Let’s start with what’s the eng size. You need a scanner that reads your engine data, make sure the car is reading 150 to 200 rpm’s while cranking over the engine that will tell you if the crank shaft position sensor is good, a bad one 0 or erratic next make sure the timing belt/chain is rotating the cams, a cylinder compression test is a good way to tell if the engine is in time or not. You can find the the spec on google or Mitchell or whatever shop program you guys use for specifications look up

@@AlexTheCarDoctor 2008 2.7 . i thought it was the crankshaft sensor on the housing but now it still didnt start and its pulling a P0340 sir. any advice on my next moves would be appreciated.

change the camshaft one on the front of the motor? i haven't located it but people are telling me there is another crank sensor under the exhaust manifold. cant seem to find much on google to help me

That PO340 is a circuit code meaning it may have a wire loose check the plug connector make sure the pins haven’t slid out The socket , you may have to trace the wire harness from the cam sensor back to the computer. But definitely focus on the cam sensor that’s the problem right now, there is only one crankshaft positioning sensor on that vehicle

I probably should have filmed it running after I replace the fuel pump i’m going to start doing that with my diagnostic videos. The test that I performed that day all pointed to the fuel pump needed to be replaced

Got a p0562 code on 07 Dodge Charger 2.7L it’s turning over but won’t start !!! Any ideas ?

That code indicates a week or dead battery make sure you have 100% charged battery and try again if it still doesn’t start you may have another issue. Follow my steps in diagnosing the problem and you will be good

Ok thanks . I’m thinking it’s the alternator. It’s just turning over like in video but never starts or sometimes it won’t even doing anything in crank position it turns the radio off while trying to turn over to crank

@@Boomland64 you can only test the alternator once the vehicle is running but if you think it’s the alternator you can always remove it and take it to AutoZone and they will test it for free. An alternator will never cause a vehicle to not start you literally can remove an alternator and the vehicle will start and run until the battery goes dead, let me rephrase that a little bit a normal functioning alternator that spins freely a locked up alternator may cause the engine not to turn over
