So when you changed the wiring by basically swapping the green and red wires of the F1 light, that's actually wired the way the function is intended to work. Yellow from the tails (plug-n-play harness) is the way the F1 light gets power from the brake lights and immediately turns on (so you are absolutely correct that should always work whether your light are on or off). The only difference with the blinking function is the red wire is pulling additional power from the tail lights' running lights (which are only on when you have the lights on) and thus both power together once the brake lights comes on to the F1 light means "turn on and also blink" where as just a single power to the F1 light mean "just turn on and don't blink". I have to double-check on mine as I never tested this function in the daylight (ie checking for blinking with the lights off) but it's very possible it may be working the very same way as it's the only way there's ever an additional power signal coming in/out of the tail's is when the lights are on and the tail's running light receives power. With mine I also have an additional "dual intensity" harness which basically wires/powers it a little different with an additional function where not only does it blink when it sees the tail's running light power and brakes come on, but it always keeps a "dimmed" light running in the fog light as well when lights are on (it's all the same power source for that function, pulling it from the tail's running light, just this harness adjusts the amount of power coming to it I guess or something along those lines - not sure if it'll work with all the F1 lights but it does with the SubieBros one I got). I have the exact same smoked f1 light you have from ijdmtoy paired with the subiebros harness that dims and it works with the lights off. Maybe try the subiebros harness.

Happy birthday to your little girl!!! I’ve never liked led F1 third brake light. I bought the oem one instead. It works perfectly bro, look into that. I too have the plug and play harness.

Had the same problem in one of my cars and it was the red wire..had to replace the connector from the red wire coming from the light and it solved the problem...might work....

what im thinking is rear light doesnt hv "daytimerunninglight" function , so doesnt matter which one u connect, the 4th brake light cant be on all the time, unless u hv a new wire connect to the fuse box...fyi im just guessing lol

Mine hasn't worked in months( the blinking part) it's been like that sinse. When i 1st got it from subie speed, and they weren't gonna help and replace it. It lights up, but I would have to reset it about 5 times a month. Finally, it just stopped all the way Checked everything, so I guess it's just defective . But good vid

I brought the same from subispeed and it has the same wire colors black, red and green. I’m not sure how to wire them. Can you help

I had the same problem after installing my f1 light. Did a whole bunch of combinations and even tapped the green and red wires together. Just gave up and will update to another f1 light haha

Did the f1 light function with the oem taillights? Maybe with updated tails the harness or f1 light needs updating? Still not sure why though 🤔

Worked exactly the same with OEM tails. I’ve boiled it down to the actually light was just not wired the way others work. Simply just be used as a brake light. Which is fine, but I will most likely be upgrading to a new light soon.

Think i covered mine with a Sticker😁, Seriously Feel my STI only one on earth without that break light.

It functions as a brake light so it turns on when braking. That’s it.

it bothers me coz ihave ddnamics tail as turn module and my f1 blinks with my turn signals. iwant it only 3rd break light
