I also don't see how it relates to anything that Diablo was about. Diablo was about facing the forces of evil and defeating them. Is Blizzard saying that now the player plays as a force of evil? It doesn't make sense and is contradictory to what Diablo is supposed to be.

yeah it looks weird, it seem maybe they are in engine trailers or something like that? As in we saw cinematics happen real time with camera close up, since the character looks in similar fidelity as she is near a camp fire. That's my theory. Well blizz can def do realistic animations so it seems weird for them just to "oops" one trailer, maybe this is straight up from game or smth.

Blizzard confirmed early on that there will be in-game cinematics at certain points through the story that simply use the gameplay textures while being animated at a higher quality. This is probably a showcase of that, and may very well be a part of one of the Rogue specialization questlines.

The rapid fire skill spawns shadow clones. They made this rogues skill more far apart to show the game off. So in other words, you can't the version they have.

I hope there id a visual distinction between a level 1 rain of arrows and a level 20 rain of arrows. In D2, it feels very satisfying leveling up my amazons multi-shot and seeing that visual progression. I worry that an over abundance of flashy abilities might dilute the atmosphere.

As Diablo 1 fan, back in the times when I was 13 years-old schoolboy, I thank you for such a great announcement.

I kinda hope that Diablo 4 would have actual combo mechanics with hit and run being an actual viable playstyle, with skills and spells that have set up and follow up mechanics that reward chaining them with colldown reduction, crits, lifesteal, powerful self buffs or powerful enemy debuffs and where chaining spells and skills requires proper timings and precision, rather than "teleport arond and spam one best ability" simulator. I am kinda tired that objectively best diabloid there is is at it's core a flask management simulator. I play this game for cool spells and moves, not to juggle 5 differently colored buffs.

In the gameplay it is supposed to be a player character. Maybe the one in the cinematic is the canonic incarnation of the Rogue character, like Isendra is for the Sorceress and Li Ming is for the Wizard.

Is there something wrong with the audio? I can't ear anything....

I found the Zakarum Chapel in Kehjistan, North of the Iron Wolves Encampment with that exact same cabinet. It's called Locked Cabinet and says "The cabinet doors are locked tight. It reeks of decay and a smear of blood from the door shows it's been in use." There are 3 bloody ears on the cabinet ledge. I'm guessing it has something to do with PvP but I haven't collected any ears yet.

I'm all for this. Rogue feels like the right addition, when things were a bit too bonkers-fantastic in the past. Diablo 1 felt so much more like you were just a person, fighting down into the depths of the earth. Diablo 3 made you into this super-human nigh-invincible living weapon. Diablo 3 (after RoS) did end up being a lot of fun, but I miss the feeling of the earlier games, and this seems like the right fit.

I want to echo that sentiment. The heroes of Tristram were just adventurers who answered the call, not Goku or Superman. When the first Diablo IV announcement dropped I harped on gearing things back with a "less is more" stance. Diablo 3 had a basic attack function you could assign to a button... but why? It was pointless for how they designed skill usage that ends up making you like a cartoony superhero. And you almost immediately start getting magical and rare gear. Then what's the point of basic equipment even showing up? Diablo 2 had half-way leaned into this design philosophy way back and that turned off to it after playing for a while because I loved the way Diablo 1 did things just fine. For me, they got it right the first time, it just needed some refinement. Make basic equipment more prevalent so the magical gear feels that much more special and make them take up real space in your inventory again so you have to make critical decisions about what you loot. Make the basic attack a viable option instead of railroading the player into a skill system that makes every encounter look like an over-the-top Anime fight sequence.

​@@maxis2k I agree with Joe, and even with the ears you collect: 3 ears seem like a lot already. Then the box with maybe a dozen ears seems like the crazy ending of the trailer. So it's not like you're an inhuman killing machine that kills 200 enemies in 5 minutes, but an actual rogue who has to carefully bring his targets down. The skills, yes. They are flashy. But that's just modern gameplay. They can't really go back to Diablo 2 where you auto attack a mob 20 times and then it dies. The gameplay, audience and modern times demand a quick, flashy and fluid kind of combat. With that being said, they *could* have been way more flashy. It's mostly arrows flying around, some caltrops, ... actual weapons and tools. Compare it to the Diablo 3 equivalent of Demon Hunter, where you shoot big flashy orbs of lightning, demon tentacles and stuff like that. So I'm not unhappy with it so far.

The new guy diablo lead seems to be doing some smart work in terms of the remaster and this dovetailing in a way that makes old D2 fanbase transition easy

When I saw there was more to the video at the end, I half expected there to be some sort of gem that he couldn't help clicking on because it glows. The ears were a nice throwback tho lol.

Rogue is definitely in my top 2 so far. Necro is just my cup of tea. Blizzard your the last gaming company i have faith in. Please as a diablo veteran since d1 came out on Christmas ive always had a special place in my heart for diablo. Please dont let us down.i know you got this.

Hmm hmm. They look good, ut are they useful? Rally depends on the gameplay. If DIV doesn't update on the core gameplay substantially, the skill as shown here are fairly useless. All of them. If I've learned anything playing these games over the years is that for a skill to be good, it would need to clear 4 screens worth of monsters and a travel skill to allow you to keep that pace indefinitely by the time one of the skills shown in this trailed had fired once. It's really cool how you dodge big monster and fire some coutnerattack that kills it in a spectacular way, but remember, you are supposed to kill around 200 of those every minute or so. Animations and stuff are only worth doing for the really big and rich monsters. Now that being said, I really hope the actual gameplay will be evolved, but in a different direction than let's saym Path of Exile.

I would absolutely love it if you could join the demon hunters as a faction while playing as the rogue class, I know a lot of demon hunter fans would agree!! :)

Did somebody also niticed the fifth silloutte on the class segment on the Website?

Well in Diablo 2 resurect they give rougues ancent greek like lether armor so thats why she as rougue looks like amazon now

That was some epic gameplay Blizzard this is top on my list now

Its nice to see that they combined Amazon and Assassin, under the original Rogue class.

The priest, when you see his face near the end when he's putting the severed ear away, looks like Nicholas Cage.

That's it! I'm sold, I was waiting for a Archer class

the interesting is the priests voice in this video sounds exactly like what is supposed to be rathma in the first diablo 4 trailer. we know he is capable of shape shifting. "it is justice within the light" sounds very similar to "there is no light here" from the accentuation even the "may akarath protect me" line which was repeatedly by the "monk". and if you watch closely at the end when he puts the ears on the hooks at 3:44 his head is similar shaped and with at least very dark eyes like that of "rathma" and another big point is when she is saying " i assure you father the heavens didn´t sent me" which fits so good with the line...there is no light here.

Will you implement rmah and connect it to paypal?

Ty a lot blizzard for making Diablo again a huge franchise. It's worth the effort!

At the start of the video I was thinking they were going to do some kind of fallen Paladin to go with the theme of Heaven forsaking Sanctuary. I still hope that they give us a new twist on an old class if they keep going for nostalgia. Something like a fallen Paladin that has begun using demonic power in place of the Light or a fanatical Zealot that smites and tortures their enemies in sadistic ways or maybe a tankier version of the Necromancer that once again uses shields and heavier armor, in other words a Death Knight.

After listening to Angry Angles by Noromabe, I just had to go back to this awesome game! Hope it will be as great as the ones before! Here's hoping.

I wish characters would have triggered moments like a battle scream when say at the final blow of doing a certain combo, or having done huge damage, etc. A slow mo for example, but this would require the engine to have pre-calc.

So like...what does he do with all the ears? Wait for them to become tasty ear jerky?

so that means no amazon(and even assassin)... javazon is 1 of my favorites from d2... WELL AT LEAST I CAN PLAY THAT IN HD 3D NOW!!!

i personally hoped for amazon too. but if you think of the hole customisation and gender thing, it wouldn't have made sense to but a male amazon as an option into the game. so rogue is more gender fluit and just fits very well into the dark style the game wants to have. and IMO the rogue looks visually were much like a mix between amazon and assassin

The soundtrack from the gameplay cut scenes is superb!

Very glad they brought back the Rogue. It's the class I wanted to return the most. Only thing I'm concerned about is how much she's flipping around and doing physics-defying and magical stuff. I thought D4 was supposed to be more grounded and gritty and realistic. And yet this new Rogue appears to be very D3 Demon Hunter-esque.

It's as grounded as a magical world with leaping barbarians, magic and demons can be. I mean she's clearly using shadow magic (and the rogues are in fact capable of magic, both your PC in Diablo 1 can use magic and the rogues from D2 can use it too) so she is grounded. Grounded in the world of sanctuary. If you want physic-accurate combat, all the physical heroes will die almost immediately and the barbarian won't be able to leap, let alone whirlwind around.

@@Arkayjiya You have a point. Although tbf, in Diablo 1, everyone could use magic. All the spells were drops, so even the warrior was slinging spells. Yes the rogues of D2 used a bit of magic, but it was mostly the high priestess, Akara doing it. The lore makes it seem like they were mostly just straight-up really good archers. For all we know, the reason the mercenary rogues had elemental arrows was because someone else imbued them with magic. Rogues were basically a blank slate of a class and they had very little to go on outside of their lore and their look. They leveraged what little they could as far as combat capabilities. I didn't, however, ever see one of their signature abilities on display. That being their ability to use their inner sight to see traps and have better aim. Maybe that will end up being like Marked for Death. I guess I was just hoping for a departure from the rampant magic and spectacle of D3 with the tone they were supposedly setting with this game. I was thinking during the trailer when the rogue in the cutscenes was cutting that guy down that she would be more purely physical like the barb has become. Turns out she has inherited a lot of mechanics and flavor from the demon hunter and monk. Don't get me wrong, I quite enjoyed those classes, especially the monk, and will probably be playing the rogue a lot. However my hope that the rogue would be more purely about martial prowess than magical augmentation was in vain as she seems to be the most Diablo 3-esque class we have in D4.

@@ScorchHellfire I think the departure from D3 will mostly be in how bombastic the effects are, not how many effects there are. And I think it makes sense, that's the price to having a fast-paced class who can go melee without necessarily having the same defensive abilities as a barbarian or druid. As of now the magical effects are a lot more understated but the class does use a lot of them. I feel like it's a good compromise. As far as lore goes, you also have to remember that the PC is a pretty exceptional character. Not every rogue could accomplish what they do, otherwise Diablo wouldn't be much of a threat.
