I am studying for my Network+ but I already have my CCNA so I have already learned this stuff, but I can tell you that your method for explaining these concepts is the best I have heard. Keep up the great work.

why are you getting network plus if you already have the CCNA?

@@calebcampbell5896 Because my CCNA is expiring and Cisco's method for renewing their certifications is complex. With CompTIA you can just pay $200 and take a refresher course and be done with it. In order to renew the CCNA you can either pay a lot of money for a multi-day instructor led course or you have to earn 'credits' like in college by taking mini courses for free on their website, and once you get a certain amount of credits it gets renewed. Unfortunately in order to get enough credits it would take many months of taking their free courses and it didn't seem worth it.

If the acknowledgment is broadcasted because the initial client does not yet have an IP address assigned, what happens if more than one computer is waiting on an acknowledgment and they both receive the acknowledgment? How do the 2 clients know to not both accept the same IP address?

This is a bit out of scope for the Network+, but the process is interesting and well documented. The client adds a client ID inside of the DHCP packet with a unique identifier (usually a MAC address), and the responses also include the same client ID. You can find the details in the DHCP RFC.

why is the request being sent as a broadcast to the DHCP server? The work station should already know the DHCP's IP address and its MAC address because it already received offer reply from the DHCP sever and should already have the MAC address and IP address in the ARP cache

Like the professor said, the work station hadn't yet been assigned an ip address so it couldn't communicate using unicast.
