Dhaba Style Daal Fry

Dhaba-Style Delicious Dal Fry: A Flavorful Feast Straight from my kitchen.
What you need:
1 cup Chana dal
3 cups water
3-4 tablespoons ghee or oil
1 large onion slices
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
2 medium tomatoes, finely chopped
1 tablespoon tomato purée
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon crushed chili flakes
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves, ginger, green chili (for garnish)
What you do:
Wash the dal thoroughly under running water and soak it for half an hour.
In a pressure cooker, add the washed dal & water and cook for 10 minutes or until the dal is soft and mushy. If not using a pressure cooker, cook in a pot until the dal is tender, adding more water as needed.
Heat ghee or oil in a pan over medium heat.
Add the finely chopped onions. Cook until the onions are golden brown then add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell disappears.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
Add turmeric powder, red chili powder & flakes, coriander powder and salt to the pan. Mix well and cook for few minutes.
Add the cooked dal to the pan. Mix everything well and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes. Adjust the consistency by adding water if needed.
Add some lemon juice to adjust the flavors.
Garnish the dal fry with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve hot with steamed rice or Naan.

    Yes sure it should be perfectly fine without purée as well
