Deye Sun 12K Hybrid Inverter SG04LP3 - Detailed Review after 1 Year

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel! Today, I'm diving into a detailed review of the Deye 12Kw Hybrid Inverter. I've been using this system for over a year now, and I would like to share my experiences, both the pros and cons.
For the pro arguments :
-A Rare 3-Phase Hybrid Marvel
-User-Friendly Touch Screen
-Battery Compatibility for Every Taste
-Customizable Solar Selling Strategy
-Intelligent Auxiliary Port
-Smart Time Of Use Scheduling
-Multiple PV Inputs customizable as Wind Generator Input
-CT Coils and Smart Meter Compatibility
-Impressive Power Handling
-Stability and Reliability
-Responsive Support from Deye
Cons or missing features :
-Missing USB Port for Communication and Firmware Upgrades
-Solarman Monitoring Platform not in real time
-Timer-Based Programmable Smart Port
THE BACKGROUND NOISE Is from my server, in the same garage, that is quite hot at the moment of recording and fans kicked in quite high. So the noise it is NOT from the Inverter.
So there you have it, my comprehensive review of the Deye 12Kw Hybrid Inverter. Overall, it's an impressive and versatile system with a host of pros that greatly outweigh the cons. If you're in the market for a 3-phase hybrid inverter with low voltage battery support, this is definitely a contender to consider. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more informative content, and feel free to leave any questions or comments below. Until next time, stay powered up!

    Great review. I have been offered the same inverter(exact same model) for a netmetering setup. It's this Inverter vs a Huawei. The deye unbalanced output on three phase is pretty nice but the solar man app seems pretty crappy compared to the huawei one. I have noticed there is a deye all also released recently but cant find more info. And the idle consumption of the inverter seems on the high side.

    Hi, thank you for sharing your valuable experience with this inverter. Can this inverter draw from the PVs and the battery bank at the same time to cover high consumption, and if they are not enough, draw from the grid also? In other words, can the Deye Sun 12K Hybrid Inverter SG04LP3 draw from Grid/Solar/Battery at the same time? Another example, when the sun is down and there is no production from the PV array, can the inverter draw from the battery bank first then the grid if needed? Thanks in advance.

  • @GigiBeleaDK

    @GigiBeleaDK

    8 ай бұрын

    Yes, it can work with ANY lithium battery. I have installations that run with 5-600ah batteries. It can draw power from PV , Grid and Battery at the same time , no problem there. It will prioritize PV , then if not enough or no sun at all will draw from batteries and if not enough will take from grid.

    Thank you for your video. I have got one recommendation concerning the diameter of your A/C wires. It looks like you used 2,5mm² / 14AWG on all 3 of A/C input, load & on the gen port. I highly recommend to go up to 6mm2 / 10AWG, or better to 10mm2 / 8 AWG. I saw your solar being at 11kW and your system settings at 13.000W. These wires deteriorate with the time, especially in hot conditions with high loads. Just my 2 cents You don't like to come home and see your house in ashes. I use 10mm2 on my Deye

  • @GigiBeleaDK

    @GigiBeleaDK

    6 ай бұрын

    Yes, you are correct and I was aware of the wire size :) I did change the Input cable to 5 x 4mm2 and the 13000W was just on that day to test the capability of the system. I have limited the export power to 9000w and the maximum load I have on inverter at ANY time is 8500W. Input / output of the AC side is fused with 25A fuses at the main distribution panel. Calculating the voltage and amps for the system the recommended size of wire is 4mm2 /12 AWG. You will see in the next video the Grid Shaving settings I am running with. But well spotted !

    Nice content! Congratulations! I intend to buy this inverter for off-grid, even I have the grid next to my yard (50m away). It will cost me the same price to be off-grid vs grid connected. But, my main concern is: can I switch OFF the Dc-Ac inverter and Ac-Dc charger so only the mppts to remain ON ? I am asking this because I leave my house for quite long (weeks) , so I'll only need to charge the battery (16 kwh LiFePo4) and to power some DC loads (surveillance cameras, alarm, wifi router and few led bulbs). Probably a 3-400 Wh DC consumption.. The PV power will be about 10 kWp. I am afraid the, if I let ON all the inverter's functions, it might drain the battery (together with the DC loads I wrote earlier) in the cloudy winter days. What is the real self consumption of this inverter on a "no load" setting? Does it have such function? Thanks! P.S. are you romanian?

  • @GigiBeleaDK

    @GigiBeleaDK

    8 ай бұрын

    I will write in English so everyone can understand ... The self consumption of the inverter is around 70watt and there is no way to turn all off .. so 70w will always be drawn from the batteries ... there is no "sleep" mode to call it so but as I understand Deye is working on a firmware that will support this in the future. Since I have the inverter there have been around 10 firmware updates fixing minor bugs and some improvements have been made. Support is very good for it and quite responsive.

    If they are SAME model and SAME firmware they can be put in parallel. However , both systems need to be either On Grid or Off grid and both connected to same battery packs. As an alternative , you can connect second inverter to the programmable GEN port and feed power from second unit to first unit trough that.

    Hello Gigi, Which method have you used to connect to Solar Assistant? Trough RS485 port or BMS port? Also which device? Orange Pi 3 Lts? Do you have some other recommendations relating battery? I'm in process to buy a similar inverter with a ~10KWh installed PV power and I'll like to clarify some aspects. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thank you. LE: Since 2 months I have also one and when production is over 6KWh or so and do multiple conversions ( batt, load, grid) it's became very noisy, so is far to be a silent inverter. Luckily we in my case is in garage. So pay attention where you install it.

    @GigiBeleaDK , Hi Gigi. How about if I connect all my loads (house loads) on Load port? The inverter will be able to cover the loads, and if it is extra sun power can sell the extra? Connecting the loads only on Load port and the CT on the grid wires, the inverter will see zero consumption from the grid, so he will know how much I need on Load port, and the rest to sell it on the Grid? Thanks

  • @GigiBeleaDK

    @GigiBeleaDK

    inverter is a 12Kw inverter ... so it can only handle max load of 12kw combined in and out. So If your load does NOT exceed 12kw then you are safe to connect all to load port. But this way , if inverter dies you will loose all power on all house. So maybe connect big consumers on house / grid and only the rest on load port.

    @@GigiBeleaDK Now my question to you is, when Load (6kwh) starts exceeding PV production (2kwh), does this inverter knows how to draw the difference from the battery? My battery will be a Pylontech US5000 which can discharge normally at 2.4kwh. So I would have Load 6kwh = PV 2kwh + Battery 2.4kwh + Grid 1.6 kwh. Is it capable of limiting battery to safe discharge rate and take the extra 1.6kwh from grid? Thank you!

  • @GigiBeleaDK

    @GigiBeleaDK

    5 ай бұрын

    @@alinbanciu28 Yes, it will pull from battery if consumption exceeds PV and if battery is not enough then it will pull from grid if available. If battery is connected by BMS then it will only discharge with what BMS tells it to , so you are safe from this point of view.
