I reckon this is my favourite UK number 1 record of the 1980s. So many good memories of when i was a carefree teenager when this topped the charts.

At any given time, in my all-time top five.

Can remember watching this on TV at 8 yrs old top of the pops this is who I wanted to be, love yous dexys

I think it goes through a chain of lifetime,, i remember it so well the coal fires going and modernising housing and the radio blaring out this fantastic song,,, on builders radios definitely an 80s feeling

It's not just you. You are not too old or just being reactive to cutting edge trends. You are absolutely right, the stuff of today is of terrible quality. I think, look up some of Friedrich Nietzsche's writings, he explains a lot stuff about culture and the forces that are forming it.

I was there live watching it at the pebble Mill Studios. I would love to see the whole show. Does anyone know where it is? Apparently three copies were lost forever by the BBC. They considered them disposable apparently?

A very good band of the 1980s that deserved more success than they got. Despite their No1 hit of 1982, it didn't get better than GENO in my opinion.

Dexy's Nothing cooler, a tribute to the Great, 'Geno Washington'. Geno also told Ian Brown, go be a singer lad, you should be a singer. Not a bad thought eh? #1❤️ everybody ✌️
