I am an insulin dependent diabetic for over 40 years and now on a Tandem X2 pump using Dexcom TruSteel infusion set. As a former Clinical Biochemist it has been my experience that neither company seems to care enough to react to problems, especially with education on use of their systems.
Excellent, T1D 48 yrs.- my best to you. Orlando Fl ❤

Hi diabetes strong. If you swim that is one way to tell how far are the Bluetooth is. The pool I swim is 25 m. And I don't lose signal 🙂
Thanks for the information!
I love the G7. So glad I upgraded.
Thank you
I received my 1st batch of G7 sensors last month. Some have the underlined code and others don't. I'll have to call Dexcom and find out if I can exchange them for the updated sensors
another nice video, THANKS. I can not use a dexcom because I cant afford it, but I HAVE given a friend a link to your site. He might start using a G 7 this weekend . THANKS again for your KZread site.
A lot of great information! Thank you!!

I love using my activity tracker from my Apple Watch and synching it to the Dexcom app. Makes it easy and can tell what is actually affecting my fluctuations.

Thanks for the updates Christel. I have the underline LDL number! 🎉
Thanks, I didn't know it had to have the line to work with the T-Slim.
Thanks to you I started wearing my senor on my thigh best place no hitting it and lost signals. I used to be uncomfortable with it at the back of my arms.
Just bought an Apple Watch series 9 and loaded up the Dexcom App. Looks great. Right on the face of the watch. No more dragging my iPhone around.

Same experience here with my series 7. Series 3 definitely does not work with the G7 but does work with the G6. Model of Apple phone is also relevant as mentioned. Look up the devices that work with what on the Dexcom website.
We are on Dexcom one in the uk !
I have heard about the G7 being available for Omnipod by July 29th. I used a few of the G7's giving to me by my Endo, before I switched to G7, since I started on the Omnipod this past January. I still do finger sticks to check to see how accurate or not the G6 is. Or are the 2 meters I am using, how they match up with the sensor. A few times, the numbers were exact or no more then 5 points different.
The G7 free 10 overlay tapes like those for the G6 are now available. I just received some from customer service when they sent me a new G7 sensor because mine failed
Another thing that is new is you can get a packet of extra overlays from Dexcom instead of having to pilfer one out of a new sensor box. I had one that crumped onto itself while I was putting it on and couldn't use it. So I got one out of the next box and kept on robbing Peter to pay Paul until I had a new sensor with no patch. That just doesn't work for me, because they just fall off. So I taped the last one on with some paper tape and called Dexcom and whined about the patches. They sent me a new sensor because they said they didn't have extra patches. I guess that's not economical, to send out a sesor becuase you don't have the otehr patch which probably costs about a dime. Now they can send you a whole pack of them to keep handy in case you have your overpatch get clumped up or if it doesn't stick.

I love the new direct to Apple watch. I no longer have to carry my phone or receiver around with me. Also when flying I can now shut my phone off and still get readings. I have stopped placing the sensor on the back of my arm and followed your advice to put it on my thigh. Great advice as I now don't get anywhere near as many midnight alerts due to compression lows, thank so much. I didn't know about the increased Bluetooth range will be watching for improvement. Your videos are always very informative.

Thank you. Glad it’s working well for you
I will be happy when someone produces one that is inexpensive and is accurate so that pre-diabetic and type 2 can see what their response is to different foods. So they can control their food intake and not tip over the edge of diabetic it is unfair in that we have to pay for monitoring I just can't afford the price in UK and they are not accurate enough to really work that purpose.

@barryhambly7711 check with your insurance. I am type 2. I assumed that they still didn't cover CGM for me and I was wrong. I use a little bit of insulin if my blood sugar goes really high. About 20 units a month. And my A1C was going up. When I checked with insurance they said it's covered. It's been 15 days now. I love it. So helpful. I have discovered exercise walking for 30 minutes lower blood sugar more than insulin. And quicker.
Some good information, thanks for sharing. I'm hoping soon we can transition our son to the G7 from the G6 with his Omnipod 5. This is off the topic of your video, but do you have any resources or personal insight you'd share about how parents can emotionally support their T1 children, and things maybe you'd wished your parents did or did not do when you were a child. I'm still really struggling with this as a parent and I don't want to be saying or doing the wrong things and unintentionally harming him. I greatly respect your insight on T1 diabetes. Thank you

Thank you. That’s a great question. I was diagnosed at 19, so I can’t share any personal experience of growing up with T1D. You should be able to find some good resources through CWD (Children with diabetes). And I did do an interview a while back, with someone who’s more of an expert than me (kzread.info/dash/bejne/nqqYpcumntnLYbw.htmlsi=3IQfrlWHp7LWgzqy). But there’s something I always think of when I think about my diagnosis and what was of value. When diagnosed I was taught not to fear life with diabetes, but rather learn the tools so I could do whatever I wanted with my life. That has stayed with me and I’m very grateful that that’s how my first diabetes nurse approached diabetes

@@DiabetesStrong thank you for responding and proving me with this information. My son was diagnosed at 10 years of age, about a year and a half ago. It still feels like I'm new to this. I worry that I'm saying or doing things that some day he will resent. We are trying our best to make sure he lives a long, healthy life.
I honestly don't have any apple product.
I was trying to find a way to email you directly and realized it was not possible. I have a question for you on behalf of my 15 year old daughter who has been living with type 1 since age seven. We would like to do jiu-jitsu. Do you have any recommendations on what to wear over the Dexcom G7 for it not to potentially be ripped off? She generally wears it on her upper arms or stomach. Thank you for your helpful videos and your time!

I would start with sports tape and see if that can hold it down. I’m also a big fan of SkinGrip, they secure my sensor, but I’m not doing martial arts. If you find that the tape can’t hold it, try looking on Etsy. I’ve seen some bands to secure the sensor, but can’t remember the name
Great video! So, are you telling me there have been improvements and Bluetooth oversee the past two months because I did try the underlined version with my Tandem X2 insulin pump and I was having connection issues. They said they were working on Bluetooth improvements, but is that something that they already did with the current version of the Dexcom G7? Would it be worth me reconsidering trying it again next month when it’s time for my refill?I’m a little confused on how you said it.
@DiabetesStrong

That’s how I read the update they sent out. The original LBL underlined sensors didn’t have the 33 ft range, so at least that’s new. If you can, I’d give it another go
I use an Apple Watch Series 9 the latest and greatest. I am using Direct to Apple Watch, latest software, and most of the time it works, however, Apple Watch shows Loss of Signal even though it does not show iPhone symbol and most of the time the correct glucose reading. Apple Watch on same arm as sensor. 30' is new sensor bluetooth range. Google search shows I am not the only one with this problem. The new glue that is used on overlay tape is the best they have ever had!!
I was really excited about the new Apple Watch direct to watch feature and for the most part it works pretty good but like any new update it was bound to have a few bugs and this is no different. At least a handful of times a day I get a disconnected message on my watch and then a few minutes later I get a message again saying G7 has successfully paired with my watch it happens quite a bit throughout the day hopefully they fine-tune it in the future but still overall happy to get the updated readings on my watch without having to tap it every time to get it to open the app and refresh. I have the new ones with the underlined LBL code and I still with my watch on my left hand and my sensor on my left thigh still get disconnect notices quite frequently so I haven’t seen any extended range I always have to chuckle when I get a disconnection message when I’m walking and my left arm is down to my side practically touching the sensor on my thigh lol and yet still disconnects but overall I’m pleased with the update but it still has some issues with disconnects and now instead of it only disconnecting from my phone now it randomly disconnects from my watch and my phone lol

You showed the G7 with underlined rev 003 in this late June 2024 video. I started receiving this revision back at the end of February 2024. I just got a new shipment and am now have sensors with an underlined rev 009. I have also had 007 and 008 versions with replacement sensors I claimed. Does anyone know of a way to see what all of the interim revisions have improved or fixed? I have definitely noticed the improved Bluetooth connection. I can go upstairs and if there is an update on my glucose, I get it anywhere in the house away from my phone.

I wish the software worked for more Android phones..I have to use a receiver
I was done with Dexcom after using the G7; extremely inaccurate, failures…I was doing the same amount of finger sticks as I was before I got a CGM. I eventually went back to using the Abbott FreeStyle Libre 2 (Libre 3 is still not available where I’m located, probably because they want to sell all the Libre 2 stock before letting the 3 into the market).

@@sabrinaadams8037 Correct; I fixed my comment above. It's the G7 that was terribly inaccurate for me...G6 is much better, but I opted to go back to the Abbott FreeStyle Libre 2 for it's accuracy, smaller size and 14 day wear feature.
Which watchface do you use? I've got a Google Pixel Watch and didn't find a watchface for the Dexcom G7 sensor.

Do you have an opinion on the new "Dexcom G7 Sensor Replacement Policy" ?
@DiabetesStrong
18 сағат бұрын
I didn't include it as it's not an upgrade. I've seen some people mention that it's being enforced. It's only for sensors that fall off, not for sensor failures. I think most people will be able to secure the sensor with either the Dexcom tape or other tapes and see only a few sensors fall off. But it's also a testimony to there being an issue with the product

My go-to is either Baby Oil (might not be effective enough for your needs) or an adhesive remover (which is VERY effective). I talked about it in an earlier video but you can find the glue remover on Amazon (here's a link amzn.to/3ae4tce)
I love using my Apple Watch
Too bad they still have not upgraded the G6 hardware.I have sometimes signal loss when receiver is within one meter. Problem is also that (at least in switzerland), you have to sign an expensive rental contract that runs for 5 years.... so you're stuck with the pump system for that time, and if it only talks to G6...and not G7... If the market was not regulated as it is now, progress would be way faster. And... thanks for you excellent updates - even if I can't use the G7 yet.

My insurance wants a DME

My Humana Medicare Advantage Plan used to require a DME. I've used CCS Medical. Once you get everything setup they're good about auto-shipping the sensors, but they can be a PITA to deal with when you need to change anything or renew the prescription. As of January 1st of this year I have the option of getting my G7 sensors via my local CVS drugstore. I haven't done that yet but if CCS screws up my upcoming August prescription renewal I will simply change to CVS.

Check your insurance to see the CVS Caremark mail order cost. I get 9 sensors for $125 from Caremark. It would cost me $170 for 3 sensors from the physical neighborhood CVS store.
@darrylr.4983
12 күн бұрын
@@davidwilliamson7514 Since I'm on insulin and Medicare my cost is zero for 9 sensors. I had my local CVS Pharmacy Manager do a "dummy" order for the G7 and it went thru OK. I assume the cost is still zero but I'll have to confirm that if I do wind up quitting CCS Medical.
Since the G7 can now go direct to an Apple watch with no need to carry a phone, does that mean that someone with a Samsung Galaxy phone (like me) could buy an Apple watch and have the G7 connect directly with it, without a need to switch from the Samsung to an Iphone? If that's not possible for some reason, I wonder whether the new Samsung Galaxy 7 watch (due, I believe, next month - in July) will be able to connect to the G7, even if a phone would need to be present, and ideally, directly as with the Apple watch.
@DiabetesStrong
