DEWALT XTREME 12V Brushless Oscillating Tool Kit Review DCS353

→ DEWALT XTREME 12V MAX Oscillating Tool Brushless Bare Tool DCS353G1- imp.i284638.net/P0qoWX
----------------------------------------------------------
DEWALT's Newest XTREME 12V Brushless Cordless Oscillating Tool is compact and performance-packed with a brushless motor that delivers up to 18,000 opm with a 3.2° oscillation angle. DEWALT also added an LED light and a variable speed trigger for ultimate control. DEWALT offers this tool in a kit that includes a DCS353 oscillating tool, 12V MAX* 3.0Ah battery, 2 blades, charger, and kit bag (DCS353G1) or as a Bare Tool (DCS353B).
The DEWALT XTREME 12V Brushless Oscillating Tool uses the DEWALT Quick-Change accessory system that allows for easy tool-free accessory changes. There is also an included universal adapter to allow the use of any other style of accessory in the multi-tool market.
The Variable speed trigger is easy to use and very smooth. It can be locked on at full speed or locked off for storage. There will be debates on if the VST is better than a dial and switch. I prefer the trigger, but that is not for everyone.

Just wondering if the DeWalt has some kind of Vibration dampening like the M12 Fuel does? I love that feature over the old M12 multi-tool I used to have but I've never been fan of the chunky grip and Dewalt's variable speed trigger and tool-less blade mechanism seem so good. I can't wait to see both compared

The Dewalt oscillators would be perfect if they had both the VS trigger and a dial. While I have the Dewalt 20v oscillator and many 20v Dewalt tools (and like their performance and ergonomics), I don't have any of the Xtreme line--they look really good, but I got into M12 Fuel a couple of years ago before Xtreme was out. I recently got the M12 Fuel oscillator kit on sale, mostly because of the speed dial. The grip is clunkier than a Dewalt, but since it's cylindrical you can twist the M12 around to fit in tight/awkward spots without torquing your wrist while concurrently trying to hold down a VS trigger. That said, nice review on a solid-looking tool..

I have 2 of these. Used them to put floors in my house. One is still new and never used. Worked for what I needed it to work for. I probably will never use it again because all the other tools I got serve the purpose of what this will do. I used it to cut under my doorways

I had the Dewalt corded one for over a year. Loved the trigger. No complaints but then switched over to the m12 line. Got the fuel m12, but it did not seem like a m12 tool as it was bulky. Lots of power, but no control. On many occasions i would hit the dial and speed changed. And yes it had tons of power, but i wanted comfort, control and precision. Xtreme line came up, and now almost all my tools are 12v xtreme. m12 bye bye Cant wait for this to come out.

I have also switched most of my 12V tools away from the M12 line. DeWalt and Skil (just as strong or stronger than M12 and DeWalt!) make up the majority of my 12V tools, but that M12 Surge driver is just so fast and QUIET. It's faster than the DeWalt 12V impact driver and not nearly as loud. It might be the only M12 tool I keep, but it won't be leaving my collection any time soon.

I want to but I just can't... I love the 12v line however I have the XR version of this tool and I just really need the ability to dial the speed in. The atomic at least has the 3 speed switch but even that is far from perfect. Sometimes you need to dial the speed in just right to keep the harmonics from vibrating the blade up and down. I also wish DeWalt would jump on the starlock bandwagon.. at least the quick clamp they have is actually pretty good.

Can you compare the vibration levels with any other tools? The Makita XMT04 is supposedly the lowest vibration by far, but I’ve seen a few people suggest that the Kobalt gen 2 and the Flex are quite impressive, but there aren’t many comparison reviews. Regarding the trigger - I am disappointed that they don’t do the same thing they do with the 20v and let you adjust the maximum speed. I have been doing a lot of sanding which you are supposed to do at lower speeds. Consistency is also important for sanding. So having a partial trigger pull as the only way to get a low speed seems like it might be a deal breaker for me. For cutting, the trigger sounds great. Also, for battery life - I am often cutting in weird orientations where I spend time getting the tool into position. No need to have it turned on the whole time.

I had them both out trying to make a comparison. Honestly, the power between the 12V and 20V is VERY close. I see very little difference between the M12 and this other than the DEWALT is much more comfortable (to me). I will try to come up with some tests to see if one cuts faster, but IMHO, that does not matter much. You want comfort and control.
