DEWALT TSTAK WITH CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK MAKES THE BEST BUDGET MODULAR STORAGE

    Other viewers have confirmed that their bottom drawer on the tstak does indeed drag. I also saw a video on a way you can fix the drag if I remember right but it was a while ago and I don't remember who it was or how. However the 2 drawer is in Amazon for $36 usually so I think that is cheaper than the craftsman.

    Regarding the problem you mentioned at about 7.45 with the drawer dragging. It is because of the position of the little feet underneath the unit. They are not directly under the sides (where all the weight is transferred to). The little feet are a couple of inches in from the side. This causes the bottom to bow up because the sides are pushed down. It is a problem with the bottom drawer every time you place these toolboxes on a flat surface.

    Thanks for the video, nice job. I agree with you conclusions.. I have the craftsmen two drawer with a craftsmen organizer on top. If you place stripes of wood (or whatever material) under the sides the drawer issue goes away. I used 1/2 x 2" . don't put them under the connecting nubs, just under the sides. Solved the problem for me.

    For anyone wondering why they are the same system. Craftsman and Dewalt storage products were always made by Waterloo manufacturing even when they were completely different companies. Now that Craftsman is owned by Stanley only the Lowe’s storage is still made by Waterloo but Stanley uses Waterloo for all the DeWalt stuff. A huge plastic molding company that makes for many but those are big contracts. Lots of toolboxes.

    This is probably the best video covering the TSTAK 2-drawer system. Better than some professionally made Dewalt Ads. I have the Tough System 2.0 and my wife got me the TSTAK Totebox by mistake for my birthday. I use the tote box a lot and it most times stays in the crew cab of the work truck holding larger power tools, temporary and odd tools for a specific job, and it is all dinged up with great character...and still holding up well. I been looking at this 2-drawer TSTAK to attach to the bottom of the tote box so it has a drawer system under it to hold stud finder, chalk line, small laser level, extra pencils, drill bit extensions, 3/8" and 1/2" wood augers, bags of M&Ms etc. Great video again. Keep it up.

    My only issue with this and any other brand is that they are not great if you are stacking them with the top lid tool boxes on top of them. Normally these drawers will need to sit at the very top or have something light on top. The other bad thing about the Tstak drawer is that they are not great for storing tiny little things because they tend to scatter out of their containers if you are moving them on bumpy terrains. I suggest putting a plexi glass to cover each drawer on the top.

  • @tgltoday2717

    @tgltoday2717

    Yes, I got the same issue. Even if you stack just two drawer units on top of each other, the bottom drawer unit I have found will sag. It's very unfortunate but it is just plastic so I guess I can't complain too much. Although I would have loved to have seen them nit sag lol Drives me nuts to hear the drawers drag like they are. Plexybglass. That's a great idea. My drawers are stationary. I mainly use my pack out when on the move so I don't have to worry about the migration. But yes, these would not be very good traveling in my opinion.

    On my Dewalt, when you pull the drawer out, where the outside rail meets the inside rail slide, there's a grey tab on both sides. You lift the tab up on one side and push the tab down on the other side and it will release the slide so you can take the drawer out. It may be a different color on the Craftsman. I hope this helps.

    This would probably be a relatively ideal travel carry/rollcart option for a hobby tool/craft. Such as RC/Modelling/Art tools/paints, where you're needing to maintain lots of smaller parts an tools for quick easy access. I use a Plano tray 3stack fish + tackle box as my starter option, but those are far more expensive an less sorting space (despite the plenty of individual compartment flexibility) versus say going with two TsTak double tray's stacked. The only thing that is really holding me back from going with this option, or really any of the other similar systems is the lack of a sealed lid for each drawer. If that were incorporated into any of them for a comparable price range as the TsTak it'd be a surefire go to option.

    It's to bad any of them do. I mean I get it if you have a lot of weight in them, but if they are empty I don't think they should. I'm just glad it doesn't stop them from working or make them really hard to open.

    I know the price on the versa stack has gone up a lot here as well. I'm not sure if it's double here but it's definitely gone up and I think it was around the same price last time I looked but that's been awhile . It's crazy for me to think that Craftsman cost more than DeWalt, but that's just my opinion.

    Amazon has a lot of sellers. I've seen the 1 drawer as low as $29 dollars all the way up $79 if I remember right. Here is a link for the 1 drawer. At the time of me posting this link, it's selling for $33.29. www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DWST17803-TSTAK-Single-Drawer/dp/B00BF4VUKO/ref=sr_1_2?crid=27JCQMCRZHIKS&keywords=dewalt%2Btstak%2Bdrawer&qid=1703293589&sprefix=dewalt%2Btstak%2Bdrawer%2Caps%2C132&sr=8-2&th=1

    I don't like them. Sure, nice for parts, but not for tools. Screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers... etc... these drawers simply don't offer enough height. I would have bought bunch of those if these drawers were double height inside.

    They are not perfect by any means. If you get the single drawered box it can fit impact drivers and bigger tools like that in. But these are defiantly more of a DIY homeowner set. If your in the trades I would recommend Ridgid, Toughsystem 2.0 or Packout. Ridgid is releasing a 2.0 version so I'm excited to see what all it entails.
