nice thing about using an impact driver is the screw isn't a foot away from my hand on the tool. Makes a difference when you're trying to keep what you're securing still while driving in screws. m12 impact is a fraction of this size, I rather reach for that on my belt than fumble around with the sds bit on top of a ladder. Let the rotary hammer hang from a sling, then with an m12 impact in the right and the object being secured in the left, my hands are just inches apart instead of over a foot.

I agree, can't see Dewalt selling a ton of these. Like you said, the long sleeve would make holding the tapcon a little clumsy. I would rather stick the tapcon in the hole, give it a hand torque twist to hold it in place, then take the impact off my belt.

Seems to me you must be a professional! I build outdoor structures like gazebos and pergolas for a living and using Dewalts system seems like it would be more time consuming for me as well since I drill my anchor holes with a hammer drill and then use my impact to set the Tapcons so I don't have to keep switching bits. Seems faster to me in addition to the great point you make about the Dewalt system being awkwardly long for some Tapcon installs.

It looks really great but when I was watching the video the tapcon was not torqued all the way into the concrete, is that an issue?
Texas commerical electrician. Change out and install alot of wallpacks at top of 24' extension ladder on concrete and or tilt walls. Few years ago changed from lead anchors to Tapcons, sometimes aggregate or rocks blow out, hole too big for Tapcon to bite. Drive a lead in. Ive seen this set up at supply house but seems more of a DIY kit. Personally when working at these heights I wear pouches with handtools, anchors, and washers etc. Then keep a Klein 5109PS canvas bucket with m18 1"rotary hammer and m18 impact, clipped off to top of ladder. When working, the impact stays on my belt and hammer drill is tied off to bucket. Also tape on the sds bit to mark the depth instead of that depth bar. This set up prob work real good on a union job. lol. Keep up the great content!
Appreciate all the content brother!

Videos are out there. Dewalt is a little ffaster
Pretty sure my friend just bought this. We’re installing a heat pump hvac system and running CAT6 through out the home. All cut in.
Listen I love your site ,but I've been racking my brains ever since I've seen this video and you did a very good job explaining it for some of these new millennials ,but I've seen this product once before! Yeah Bosch as created it before, but their was in a fabric storage case and it's seemingly less expensive than Dewalt tapcon versions! Again love your shows
I had the irwin version of this for hanging bathroom dispensers with an impact. Money well spent
HILT I has had that system out for more than 25 years. I am a Commercial union carpenter for more than 42 years. Dewalt didn't solve the issue for tapcons, HILT had this system for their own concrete screws. HILT sold screws for anchoring into concrete called Kwikcons. They had a combo drive head that used a 5/16" driver bit or a T20 torx bit - they still sell them today. You can use HILTI'S system to drive Tapcons as well - copycat system from Dewalt as I'm sure the patent has expired.
The music pause as he tries to close the case was some pretty good editing.
now that i need ty vince
Great vid as always VCG! I gotta admit I willy nilly it with and Impact. And with pretty good success I might add but woulnt lie I've snapped a Tapcon or 2 in my day lol. Might be worth looking into the torque bit but I don't think I'd want to be switching bits all the time in my proffession. Rather just have an impact set up with a torque bit and just drill with the SDS.
We used to used condrives on those old electric noisy hammer drills to put it tapcons before bulldogs and impact drivers started hitting the scene
Have A 15 year old tapcon Kit from Bosch with the Sleeve and nut drivers. Nothing actually new, probably just rebranded by DeWalt. Only Issue I had was drill was not tightening the fastener enough.
I have a Ryobi Hammer Drill that has 3 settings Hammer, Driver and Drill, drilling activates the tourqe clutch settings. I use the Tapcon kit same as the one in your video, do I use the drill setting on my hammer drill on the highest tourqe setting to set the fastener or put it driver setting? The instructions for the Tapcon fastener showed not to use hammer setting
I use a Milwaukee M18 fuel version of that tool with a similar kit by Bosch.
I wonder how many uses it has before it needs to be recalibrated or a new one purchased to torque at the right specification. I am assuming there is some kind of built in spring tensioner mechanism that gives the appropriate torque.
I wish dewalt would make a power detect and a flexvolt version of their impact drivers.
Good if you gotta throw just a couple tapcons in but for any double digit amount or more I’d want a second driver or drill
magnetic, one-handed drilling - nice work Yo
Bought a 100+ yo solid concrete house 2 years ago. Installed a metric $*#@ ton of Tapcons since. This would have definitely made things easier even for a DIY guy.

@bradc7767 You sound a little suspect... An electrician who isn't beholden to the solo worship of the mighty RED GOD from the city of beer, in the great cheese state? Lol. Dewalt has been bringing itself up to the level of function alongside with the mighty RED and BLUE/GREEN old kings
Looks identical to the Milwaukee version, which is awesome. I use it daily. This is better only for the case.
I see all of these comments expressing preference for just using a hammer-drill and a impact-wrench. But I don't see how - when using an impact wrench - you could possibly know with any precision how much torque you've applied. That's a problem with nearly all (only one exception comes to mind) impact wrenches: they're fast, but you only get a very coarse torque-value. Thus this DeWalt kit: more precise torques. Vince -- great video, and I thank you for creating and sharing these. Do you have links here somewhere to buy these tools?
The main problem is trying to drill and set a tapcon in 40... 50 ..60.. year old concrete
Real question how long is that battery going to last? Drilling into concrete eats up battery life quick
But what is difference between this DeWalt and Milwaukee tapcon kit?
This seems like a better kit than Milwaukee. I love my Milwaukee Tools though

Awesome tool if you need to travel light. But we all know switching to your side arm is faster than reloading…. I’m grabbing my 12 volt impact off my belt loop with a tapcon pre set into in my Malco 5/16 bit and going to town on it. I’m hammer drilling with one hand and setting a new tapcon in the bit on my impact with the other. Will one of these end up in my hammer drill box to make it ready to drive tapcons in with what’s only in the box so I can travel light? Absolutely. Will it become an every day use tool? I hope not I hate hammer drilling.

Its funny that they get so many people tp buy this stuff. My craftsman shoots tapcons with ease. No tapcon kit needed.

Definitely depends on what kind of work you're going for but the bare essentials would be Drill, impact, sawzall, skill saw, multi tool, lights, extension cords, hand tools like screw drivers, socket set, tape measure, and lastly bits and blades. Those are all things I use on almost every job at some point. Lots of carry over for any specialist work as well. I would look used and try to save some money especially on hand tools and things that the hardware stores love to rape us for.
