For most plywood and 2X I use the Dewalt 4.5” saw with the 1.7 powerstack. I prefer the lighter weight and with my shorter arms I can finish cross cuts on plywood easier. It’s got its quirks but I’m done using heavy saws where a lighter one will get the job done. Great video as usual!

The dcs571 atomic? I love that saw and with the blade selection it’s a versatile tool and it’s my go to that or the deep cut 18v mhpt 6.5” deep cut Is the power with the 1.7 PStack comparable to a 4 or a 5 ah battery I still haven’t gotten a pstack but I will 👌🏼

@@Jeff-rk8hq Yes it is the DCS571. Yes the 1.7ps is comparable to the 5.0. As you would expect, they do need to be charged more often. I have several. For bigger jobs I just switch out more often. I prefer the lighter weight.

Well we still need to test the flex sidewinder with the 10.0 which I believe will not thermal because it was actually made to use the 10.0 that's what mine came with..

The sad part of my 578 is the shoe isn’t square and is quite thin. Also not a real fan of the right side blade because I prefer to use my right hand to cut. Makes keeping my eye on the blade cutting difficult

I ordered the gen 1 sidewinder and when it cam i realized it was a left handed saw so I returned it, and when I did so, I noticed the just released the gen 1 DSC577, and purchased it. That was 4+ years ago. It was really my very first quality purchase for my new construction business. I love this saw and have been nothing but impressed with it. I do like that the new model has a port for dust collection. Thats such an improvement, that it make me want to upgrade and sell my gen 1. I would get the dewalt miter saw too if it had 48 and 60 degree bevel and miters. Its going to cost me 400-500 extra buck for the makita. just saying. DeWalt... Are you listening?

Blade right saws are for right handed people that's why 99% of saws are blade right . Not everybody wants to covered in and breathing in dust .

lol the rear handle or worm gear circular saw in not the better framing saw necessarily. Most east coast framing crews do not use a worm drive, they use a sidewinder saw. This is a preference thing

  • @adamjames1375

I'm an east coast guy & always strongly preferred 120v worm drives to their 120v sidewinder counterparts. Line of sight, torque, and the subsequent near inability to experience kickback with occasional "bad form", as well as reach & tool longevity were why I preferred them & found their heavier weight an acceptable compromise. In my more recent experience, with brushless tools & 5ah+ batteries with a sharp thin kerf blade, I have somewhat lost my preference in favor of lighter & handier. I run a makita 36v rear handle which I love but usually grab one of two 6-1/2" blade left saws for handiness. (Res/light commercial remodel carpentry/decks e.t.c...not a full time framer) I also immediately noticed, while the rear handle battery saws cut very fast (faster than my 120v latest version mag77)...they torque stall comparatively often, especially if blade is side loaded, aggressively plunge cutting into nasty stuff doing demo e.t.c... She's a great saw, but behaves differently than a 120v worm drive, which is still my favorite saw to use in the shop or on site as a dedicated "cut guy". Blade right sidewinders are nice in that the plate/base are more often supported as the waste right piece falls. Milwaukee used to make a tilt lock 120v saw where you could adjust the angle of the handle relative to the base/plate. Always was surprised that wasn't more common on pro saws as I'd much prefer being close to 90° relative to the cut & is another reason I have preferred rear handle saws, the weight, torque, line of sight, and pushing a 90° handle have always been faster, & more accurate for me. Well...that was a whole bunch of rambling you never asked for, happy cutting pal.

@@Josh.1234 Yeah it's not often I see it. The 36v makita is a great saw and the only rear handle I ever see on site around here. Usually it's Milwaukee or Dewalt sidewinders, probably near 50/50 between 6-1/2" blade left & 7-1/4" blade right.

@@Josh.1234 I'm running mostly Makita stuff & have a ton of 5ah batteries. I waited for it to go on sale at Home Depot for $299. The kit is (4) 5ah batteries, saw & a dual rapid charger. A decent bag & excellent framing blade too for whatever that's worth. The Dewalt looks awesome, and I've generally really liked all Dewalt circular saws, table saw & chopsaws...but I don't have any Dewalt battery stuff... and even if I did I'd probably be reluctant to buy big expensive 60v batteries solely for the saw, unless I had, or could justify other 60v tools. Alot of guys don't like (2) battery 36v Lxt Makita but I love it. Relatively cheap & quick charging 5 amp hour batteries is all I run & having a single battery type & size for nearly all my tools has been awesome. Hilti has a new one too that looks really awesome but through my experience & research I think the Makita on sale for $299 is the best deal. They run the sale at various retailers a few times a year, & they're usually on display at home depot. The build quality is excellent, she feels really smooth & handles like a custom katana. I'm admittedly a bit of a Makita Fanboy but the 36v is objectively outstanding, doubly so @299/kit.

I am a real carpenter and builder and have had a 575 for four years ,it is over 1800 watts and is still one of the most powerful saws available, most people say the 578 is hardly discernible from the 575 in power !
