This is my first ever planer and definitely fills all of my needs at the moment. One day I would love to get a wide industrial planer for future projects but this Dewalt DW735 is a great tool to have in any shop!

I mounted mine on 3/4 plywood and mounted it on a wheel barrel with some 2x4 blocks to the plywood mounted on inside wheel barrel rim. easy to move around and I can lift it off wheel barrel when ever needed. It won't fall off or slide around

No problem, I’m glad it helped you decide! It is a great machine and still going strong for me after many hours of use.

I find that if you are planing green wood like redwood it starts to clog up and you have to get in there and clear out all the mush. Stronger fans would solve this problem. I use it with a dedicated vacuum system and providing you set it up right there is little or no dust at all. For the price point I don’t think you can beat this model. They say the helix blades are better but I’d rather not fiddle around with aftermarket stuff and the finish on setting one is a good 150 grit. Then I finish off with a orbital at 220.

Watch your back picking that up. I am constantly picking up my planer also. Not as fancy as the one you are showing. Would love to get one day soon. After all this tune is still going strong?

Still going strong 💪 and yes my back isn’t what it used to be. I’ve got plans to make a permanent mobile base for it so thankfully no more deadlifts with it haha

DeWalt need to make models with metric adjustment as the majority of countries have difficulty knowing what inches are all about.

It is good for soft wood like pine, but if you want to do hard wood like oak, cherry..., the 735 will stall.

I used to struggle with harder woods too but I found that if you clean the rollers off with isopropyl first it really helps. Also knowing that the machine does have limitations being a bench top planer and all. It will struggle with those really thick and heavy pieces.

I believe any plane would struggle if you cut too deep

Yes I do unfortunately. But it isn’t too bad as long as i apply downward pressure on the in-feed and out-feed.

Just trying to understand. You paid $600 on eBay? Aren't they around $599 new? Sure, you have tax and have to pick it up but having the warranty would be worth the extra $40-$60 in my opinion. Plus, if you open up a credit account at Lowe's I believe you get 20% off your first purchase (up to $100 off?) and 6 months with no interest to pay.

I don’t remember exactly how much I paid but it was around $600 brand new. I didn’t buy it used. eBay has the same no interest for 6 months deal too. The 20% off is a nice perk...I didn’t know about it at the time 🤷‍♂️ but thanks for watching and letting me know for the future.

Unlike Europeans most Americans don't believe in the welfare state. That's one of the reasons things are cheaper in America.
