I had the same problem, just out of warranty. I contacted the retailer quoting the Consumer Protection Act in that the item was not of merchantable quality. DeWalt sent a returns label and I received it back, repaired, within 10 days.

I would be interested in who the retailer is as I have the same issue

I also own this model and fitted the wixey. It’s fair better that the poor dewalt scale fitted. Since buying this I was offered a d2700 planer with a induction motor. It’s a lot nicer planer to use. But no wixey.

Great video and thanks for the warranty prompt! It would be interesting to know how much the repair would have been without the generosity of the repair centre! Also, is that a Stepcraft CNC in the background?

Hi, Thanks for the comment. Yup a Stepcraft D420, just bought a D840 secondhand and slowly getting it tuned in.

I just finished rebuilding a DW733 that I had bought used a couple of years ago. Quite a job getting a new belt on, but I think that I found a trick. Any suggestion for making the cranking mechanism smoother or at least easier?

Thanks for the video. I hope your warranty troubles with it are over as I have the same DW733 and would like to hope it's of better quality 😅 I was surprised to see you use the thicknesser without locking the head as the manual advises. Would you usually do it like that or just on this video? I struggle to understand why it needs to be unlocked in order to adjust the hight 🤔

I only use the lock on the last pass as I find it too much hassle to lock and unlock every time I pass the wood through.

@Trinity WoodArt I find it really stupid to have to unlock and lock 100 times when I do 100 increments with the passes. Do you have any idea why we need that lock at all?

@@ANCAPVoluntaryist I've no idea of the benefits of locking every time you pass the wood through. It is a lot of hassle. However Ido find that locking on the last pass gives a more consistent depth across the board.

How hard you need to press to pull the wood under the first roller? I find myself have to push a bit to get the wood under there

I don't need to press very hard for the rollers to catch and pull the wood through. However, as I say in the video, I do lubricate the table as sometimes the wood doesn't feed well, after a bit of lubrication it feeds very smoothly.

How is the dust extraction? In the first video you said that you heard poeple say that the wood chips get stuck in it? Did this happen to you, if so does it happen alot? Btw thx for the great video’s💚

Glad you like the videos 🙂 I've only had the dust port blocked once and I think that was because there was an air leak in the extraction hose. Since moving house I've changed to a 2 motor Camvac extractor with a 100mm cyclone from Axminster tools in the UK. This has two 1KW motors and I use both to ensure good chip extraction from the thicknesser.

Does it have an overhand planer function or just works as a thicknesser only?

It only works as a thicknesses, and is very good at that job.
