DeWalt 55168 15 Gallon Air Compressor UnPack and start

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I unpack and video the DeWalt 55168 15 gallon air compressor. I also check how long it takes to fill up from empty and run some tests with air tools.

Yeah I was looking at the bigger one but I read some others were talking about the weight when loading and unloading by yourself so I went with the smaller unit. If I am going to run body shop tools all the time then I will thrown down for a two stage 220V unit that just stays in the garage. I will update more once I use this thing for a while and see how it hangs.

Out of the box, the instructions say to leave the drain open and run the compressor for 15 minutes to burn in the piston. The machine is oilless and the piston has a special coating. Just curious since you didn't do the burn how well your compressor is running and how much you have used it over the past few years since you made the video.

10-19-2016 It is still working good but I do not use it daily. Seems like about every 90 days I use it.

Is it crazy loud? I have the Craftsman 5.5hp and looking to sell and get something that won't blow your ears when it comes on.

It is somewhat loud but I have not see that many units that are not in this price range. I move it out side sometimes and run a long air hose then I don't notice.

Yo dude you don’t read the manual before running new equipment? You gotta do a break-in on these things first. And they recommend plugging directly into the receptacle but if you need a cord 12 gauge wire or bigger

6 years so far and a lot of use without problems. Works as it did when I took it out of the box.

Ross, hows the compressor been? Any issues or cons that you have noticed after some time with it?

Still working great so far. I use it say about every 90 days for a few hours of run time. Blowing off things and running some tools. This unit is not big enough to run body shop tools but I knew that when I bought it.

Thanks for the update. I went with the D55146 for portability. It seems to hold the pressure pretty well even though its only a 4.5 gallon tank. Fills up in about 1:30, and recovery time is about 25secs. I was a little skeptical of the Dewalt compressors because I've read the air regulator tends to fail because of the high pressure coming from the tank. Fingers crossed.
