    Skil PwrCore all day. Best price on tool and batteries, fairly quiet, good power, 2 second blade changes, less vibration, and best light of any of them. Oh, and 3 year warranty, but can extend that to 5 years by registering the tool within 30 days of purchase. I'm no longer stuck on the big names. The DeWalt trigger and blade release locations make it way to cumbersome for intricate cuts where you may tend to "choke up" on the tool. I can't speak on the Skil longevity as I've only had it about 6 months, but so far so good. Cut an entire 10'x20' above ground pool wall into 3 foot sections with it cuz I broke my cut off wheel and didn't have an extra on hand. Made easy work of that as it's first use for me. Yeah, and then I can top off my phone battery with the tool battery after the job is done. Kinda gimmicky, I thought, until I found myself working in the middle of nowhere without a place to charge my phone.

    I am a fan of DeWalt hand grips. But as for this tool l got Milwaukee because the smooth vibration allowed me to cut better straight lines. I had to open mine to because l found a rubber pad that was my vibration control had fallen out. I cleaned and put it back all working again.

    The only thing I will say about Milwaukee is that I got a mini- jigsaw for a specific job. It was perfect for the job. I didn't use it for a while (just over a yr). Next time I went to use it was dead and wouldn't accept a charge. I brought it to Ace to see if they could do something, but it was a little too long at that point and apparently it was a known problem. The batteries were redesigned slightly, so I had to purchase the new ones. All the rest of my battery powered tools are DeWalt. Never had an issue with them.

    Mini jigsaw? Do you mean M12? If so, that tool has/had a 5 year warranty and the battery a 3 yr warranty. Li Ion batteries should optimally be charged at about 40 percent for longest life. They DO need to be charged occasionally though. If you leave a Li Ion battery uncharged for extended periods, they will die. If you charge them completely and store them, their life will be shortened and likely you will kill a cell or two in the pack. Read the instructions and warranty with your tools. I've had a couple of Milwaukee tools out of the hundreds I own go bad. Both were replaced with brand new ones by Milwaukee with a return ship label for the broken one. call 800 saw dust. You don't need a receipt, just the serial and model numbers.

    I started with the corded Dewalt, it was good but slow. Then tried the m12 when it came out. Battery life wasn't great with 2 am and it was no longer a m12 size. Their brushed version was smaller, this was large. And mistakenly i would hit the dial. Then when 12v xtreme came out, i am back to Dewalt. That little thing is small, cuts fast, battery life is good, blade change is a breeze and love the trigger; I am now on the 12v xtreme platform.

But after getting the m12 the DeWalt hangs in the garage as a backup. I’ve had the m12 since it first came out. It cuts so much faster and the lack of vibration doesn’t fatigue my hand like Dewalt. Look at how gentle he is with the dewalt on the square cut meanwhile he's pushing the milwaukee. I didn't catch it at first but I went back once I got the sense he may be biased towards the dewalt and skipped between both tools and it was quickly clear he isn't using them the same way and is much more aggressive with the m12. One can argue he was trying to bog it down. That's actually impressive how well the m12 held up to that pressure, it only cut out twice, still cut faster and stayed cooler.

    I once had to return an m12 brushed jigsaw because some doofuses in the warehouse mishandled and bent the metal frame waaay out of shape. By then I had already purchased the $100 20v worx jigsaw/reciprocating saw and it worked great! 😃 Needless to say, I didn't need a $200 m12 jigsaw to handle the job. I always wondered why my dad was so insistent on keeping his corded Ryobi from the 80's, it's not always the tool: sometimes it is just the person. Or in my case, it was the doofuses in the warehouse that broke my m12 jigsaw ahead of my purchase! In my case, I just needed a tool that Worx!

    Good tools to have around. I don't need them that often, but when you need one, you REALLY need one. Clean quick and easy to use. Blades aren't cheap, but time isn't either. Any time you do a side by side test, you have to try to do EVERYTHING as close to EXACTLY the same a possible or the results are invalid. For some reason, he used completely different cutting strategies on the two tools. But it's clear that they both work great. I have an old porter cable corded model, the original M12 model and the new M12 fuel model. The Fuel version blows the others out of the water. I recommend a 4 or 5 ah battery pack, as they have the highest drain capacity/ah balance. 6ah batteries work great but they don't have as high a drain rate as the 3, 4, or 5ah packs. They also can accept a charge faster. DeWalt stuff is great too. Go with whatever battery platform you have already.

  • @campbellbuilt

    @campbellbuilt

    I was unaware of the 3,4,5’s having a higher drain rate

  • @mikemorgan5015

    @mikemorgan5015

    5 ай бұрын

    @@campbellbuilt Generally, there is always a trade off between capacity and drain rate. Higher capacity chemistry can't usually push the amps of lower capacity cells. The chemistry and construction are improving all the time, though. I have seen a noticeable difference on high drain tools between the XC 3 and 4 packs vs the XC 6ah packs. I'll yield to the Li-Ion cell gurus on this, but I have entered the codes on the cells in the recent past and found the lower cap cells consistently sporting higher drain and charge rates. It's not a huge difference, but it's noticeable. The newer 2.5 and 5ah high output packs sport some of that newer technology/chemistry along with better, more efficient cooling capacity to dissipate heat. It would be interesting to see them all tested side by side. Some things to consider: Cell count is important. The XC packs have 6 cells in series/parallel vs the CP packs with 3 cells in series. So the XC packs with identical cell in them will theoretically produce 2x the drain rate and capacity of CP cells. In the real world, it will likely be a bit under 2x though. So don't expect a 3ah CP pack to deliver the same power as an XC 3.0 pack. The M12 tools are hamstrung a bit, since they can't accommodate 21700 cells. They simply won't fit into the M12 form factor as we know it. They COULD make them work in an XC type form factor, but I doubt that's a path Milwaukee wants to go down. But I've been surprised before. Hope that made sense. EDIT: Thought I would put my 2 cents in on M12 stuff. I have big hands. Some folks don't like the fat M12 grips that accommodate the battery in the grip. That's not an issue for me, I find they fit my hands comfortably. The big bonus of the M12 tools for me is that they don't have that big honkin flange on the bottom to accept the slide packs. I can fit a LOT more tools in a bag or box as a result. Even if you take the battery off a slide pack tool, the big flange is still there. Lot's of great tools out there from a variety of manufacturers. Go with what works for you.

    Omg you guys, dewalt was obviously the better tool here right!?! I mean come on. I don’t have a dog in this fight so I could care less so my input is purely based on performance. Not only in time to finish cut, the Milwaukee didn’t cut out the box at all, it had to be pushed on, punched on, and pushed again till it was forced out, the Milwaukee also cut out, (stopped cutting) 3 maybe 4 different times and needed to be restarted. Apparently it’s torque is lacking. Dewalt is also smaller by 1.5 inches! That’s big in the tool game. One more thing, I could have beaten the guy who was cutting using a ridgid or craftsman, a Metabo whatever any day. Theres skill involved in using a multitool, I’m just just saying. Multitools don’t cut their best when shoved down or into the material as hard as you can. In fact they cut like garbage. Believe it or not there is a sweet spot for each and every tool, that sweet spot is where pressure on material and stability meet. I can make almost any multitool cut with ease and like a knife through butter with just finding thst sweet spot abd letting the tool go to work, multi tools need to rid themselves of the material that’s been cut or they get stalked out and vibrate like hell n stop working. Just Try it yourself. I’m shocked this isn’t like a well known fact. When the tools is shoved down into material the material ejection (which is easily 50% of the tools speed and overall success of any multitool. Test it first yourself n see. I could have gotten through those cuts easily 5-15 seconds faster. Maybe more if I get going in a good rhythm. Don’t get me started on the last test. Milwaukee had a good 10-15 seconds easy before the square would have dropped. So to me, the red one came in second place in darn near all categories. But Bosch would trample over both easily!
