A beautiful showcase of traditions, myths, and mysticism, Devprayag is the place where the holy rivers Bhagirathi and Alaknanda meet, merge into one, and take the name Ganga, making it a unique pilgrimage. Lord Rama and his father King Dasharath are believed to perform penance here.
Rudraprayag is named after Rudra, an aspect of Lord Shiva. According to a legend, Lord Shiva appeared here as 'Rudra' to bless Narad Muni. Rudraprayag is of immense significance for the pilgrims of Char Dham Yatra, as it is the junction for visiting Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham.
Situated on the banks of the Mandakini River, Augustyamuni is a town dedicated to one of the most revered teachers in Indian mythology - Rishi Augustya.
Guptkashi Uttarakhand is the gateway to the celestial city of Kailash, and it is believed that Lord Shiva and his consort Parvati lived on this mountain. It is also a sacred place for the Hindus as they believe that it is where Lord Ganesha broke his tusk. Other than this it is also well known for its magnificent view of the valley.
Ukhimath is the home of Lord Kedarnath and Madhyamaheshwar during winter. Worship is performed at the Omkareshwar Temple here during winters when the temple of Kedarnath remains closed. Ukhimath is mainly inhabited by the Rawal's, the head priests of Kedarnath.
