Devin Townsend Newcastle Guitar Clinic Pro-recorded (1 of 2)
Музыка
This is part 1 of a professionally recorded Dev clinic recorded in a Newcastle (England) college on 15/11/2011. It's an Easter egg on the 'By A Thread' boxset and hadn't been uploaded to youtube yet probably due to it's rarity. Very informative and entertaining - enjoy!

dude. Devin. you are the most organic expression in the universe. through your ambient diddlys while speaking resonating phrases of verbage and tonal phrasing. your humor, honesty and integrity, they make you sir, a perfect expression of the interpretation of the universe. a brilliant 'human' indeed sir. absolutely capital sir.
Bloody hell... even without singing you can listen to Dev for hours...

I find I can listen better to him when I am not singing...
He is so tragically underrated.. He should be on the top of the heap. What an awesome guy..
I was front and centre at this - it was an a amazing afternoon 😊
I met him in Tampa on the SYL "Feather" album tour with Dark Tranquillity, Nile and Napalm Death. I was caught off guard when I saw him but I got to tell him he was the best musician in the place and he thanked me. I wish he could strike gold, he deserves it but at least he does what he loves and that's more than most can say.
Jesus I'm in Newcastle and I did not know he'd been up here! Gutted, but what a talented guy - seen him in concert a few times.
All those voices in his head, dgccefc, or so and he can play that voicing? Respect!
this guy is a genius. When everybody overcomplicates thing with a ton of technique in standard tunings, this guy eliminates the long distances of the standard tuning octaves and bases everything on an open tuning to have every thing close. Brilliant.
Cant stop listening to his awesome sound setup!
The tune he begins to create midway through this haunts me. Absolutely haunts me. I've noodled it out at home on my acoustic...somewhat...but what I wouldn't give to hear that song completed by the man himself.
count how many times devin says.. 'right' after a sentence haha. legend man

It's part of the canadian accent.
This must have been the best time to be alive. I really like that story at 11:30 the ups and downs he speaks of
Peavey guitars are awesome Sounds pretty cool!
Thanks for watching!
Love it Bro
I'm not sure which disc friend. What I did was put the DVDs into my computer and using 'Handbrake' ripped all the videos off all the discs therefore by-passing finding the easter eggs the usual way. Imo, the above clinics are the best easter egg content on the discs but there's a lot of cool stuff.
Devin needs to do a neural dsp, but they better fuckin pay him
Every single riff sounds 50x better than the riffs i come up with, and he just makes them in like 10 seconds then improves them tenfold in another 10 seconds...for me i sit there for like 5 minutes like....maybe if i make that suspended it'll be cool...nah.....lol

Honestly I feel the same, he probably felt like that for years before getting good though to be fair
I feel like you don't go to a Devin Townsend guitar clinic to learn more about guitar, you go to learn philosophy
interesting fella
What disc is this one on and how do you find it?
Right? Like, right?
how did he find the time to record Epicloud? it came like a surprise to me lol
but wait, isn't Vampira in E standard :D

+El Ocean yes it is. he used a different guitar for that song in particular if i'm not wrong. I also believe it's the guitar in the actual video.

Yep, he has also used a wide variety of tunings before this vid was made, specifically: Open B since Addicted, E standard for a couple of songs, weird AAAsomething tuning for majority of Physicist and the song AAA as well as Spirituality, Open A# for Winter and Heaven's End from Ki. I probably forgot about something anyways :P
What's the name of the song he just started writing in this, if he actually kept it.

That guitar makes me want to make violent love to a Framus

Wolves it's a Peavey haha..don't think he'd partnered up with Framus yet. That being said, that doesn't mean Framus isn't good in any way lmao..Far as I know Framus guitars are quite a bit higher quality than Peavey. When it comes to completely custom made guitars like this though they're probably all fairly equal when it comes to quality regardless of who makes it.
