Hi David! This song was meant to be an overture, of sorts, to Empath (the album it's from). Kind of like the overture to a musical where bits of all the songs get featured. The songs off of Empath cover a lot of territory genre-wise and this track was a nod to all of those so that's why it sounds a little bit all over the place. Also, the guy pulling off those insane 64th notes is 66Samus, another KZread reactor who also happens to be a beast of a drummer.

There are 3 drummers credited to this track (I believe all 3 drummers that were hired for this album: Anup Sastry, Morgan Ågren, Samus Paulicelli). But yes, it makes a lot of sense that 66Samus did the 64th notes knowing the type of metal drummer he is. 66Samus has a drum playthrough of "Hear Me" on his channel (which is also from this album) and you can see him use gravity blasts on that track. It's been quite a while since I caught one of his drum request livestreams (being from Europe makes it harder to catch them), but I always find it fascinating to see him play through a track he never heard before and usually managing to catch on rather quickly.

I'd argue SexSexSamus is a beast of a drummer who happens to be a KZread reactor.

@@silirat Very true and I agree with you, but sadly many people have discovered him from his reaction channel and not the other way around.

Gotta 2nd Hear Me - I think David would actually really dig it
I adore Devin, my favorite human, next to my kids. 💯🔥
Devin Townsend opened for Dream Theater and mesmerized the crowd in Copenhagen. He had a real solid stage presence.
Glad to see you do another Devin song. He's my absolute favorite artist and always enjoy watching reactions of him. Especially yours.
I find that studio versions do not do most of his songs justice. Hearing them live really makes a difference to me. I do find a lot of his music can be tiring after a while because it is so big and wide sounding. But overall, he is a crazy talented man.

Yes! The "Order of Magnitude" live version of this song is amazing!

@@digibirder I'd say it's arguably better - it's a hell of a thing to perform live
This is like a soundtrack to the most trippy musical ever made. Weirdly reminds me of the Rocky Horror show
Yours was a fair reaction, and I'm glad you conceded the choir was required! Listen to Singularity which is the second half of the Empath album that Genesis came from .. That's in 6 parts and you very well might not "get" it, until you go back over the entire album from the start.. it's worth it though!
I urge you to check and review again the live video version of this song, which is floating somewhere out there. A sight to behold.
Great
Check out the Ziltoid album. It’s his own full musical. Insane
I think you would have remembered "Genesis" if you had heard it before!
It's going somewhere - to a place you've never been to but needed to go! Enjoy!
Not a favourite but I do like it on occasion for what it is, an overture of this album.
This is what happens to thie mind of a man who's first gigs were with Steve Vai!
Unpredictably pleasant
Lol I may have heard this song in passing. Maybe at the supermarket or something.
Sounds like part of the soundtrack from a "Flash Gordon" movie.
If you're not a Devin fan it's a lot to take in...
You should react to “Eddie” by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. It’s a tribute to Eddie Van Halen and they made it the day after he died. John SHREDS for over 3 minutes. You should definitely check it out to see if they did Eddie justice.
I think you meant 4.8.
Devin is overrated. This song is boring 😴 but I'm sure people are drooling over the double bass and growls. Not a memorable riff here. Just some half baked attempt at prog better left to Rush or Dream Theater

ah yes Rush. Tell me you're 80 without telling me you're 80. If you don't mind, can you send me any music files for songs you've made? Oh, you haven't ever played music? It's ok, I can tell.
