Oh god....I discovered this song 2 years ago I believe ....and this song...this song is sooooo mesmerizing!!! the first time was really shocking but I at the same time I had the feeling to already know this guy...and then I realized he was the same singer from the "Sex and Religion" project by Steve Vai! Believe me, that project was AMAZING ! Imagine the best musicians in the world playing with a voice like that...check it out! Anyway, I'm 46 years old and music play an import role in my life every day from when I wake up till I go to sleep but I never experienced goosebumps like that on this song or with "Funeral " which Is on the same concert ( Royal Albert Hall )!!!! You can Really feel the music, the voice, going inside you and embrace you.The music itself is epic but adding Devin vocals become a masterpiece! And yes, as MadGebs said, at the end of the song I was STILL HUNGRY to hear it again and again and I felt sad cause the song was over. I think I 've listened to this song at least 200 times and I broke 8 pairs of headphones after I installed an app that emphasizes all the sounds (Boom 3d) because , of course the normal sound for the song was not enough for me (in a scale where the volume goes from 1 to 10 I always choose 10 for this song or for Funeral) Such a cool and clever song ! So dear MadGebs you really need to see/hear " Funeral " and go check the "Sex And Religion" project by Steve Vai where mr. Devin Townsend is really great too. Sorry for this papyrus but I had to put down my emotions sometimes.

Truly a special song and one for how we've all been feeling. A light in this darkness from the Most Criminally Underrated Musicians to ever Grace (pun intended) a stage. Truly the Mozart of our time.

Great reaction! I recommend Devin Townsend's album "Empath". Definitely my fave album of all time, I can't recommend it enough. To be honest I feel like almost everything Devy touches is perfect. Casualties of Cool with Che Aimee Dorval, The Devin Townsend Project, Strapping Young Lad, Ayreon's "The Human Equation" it's all so good. Not only is it all good, but there's so much variety. I feel so fortunate that I got to see Devy and Che Aimee Dorval live in Toronto just before Covid-19 hit Canada hard.

8:28 - cute sleepy kitty (kitties) I saw this posted the other day, and like 5-10 minutes after noticing it, I went to play it, and I noticed it was blocked. I'm so glad you were able to get it back up somehow. Oh, as far as a recommendation goes, I liked "More" from his EMGtv set (the same one "Kingdom" is from). It's a little harder (maybe a lot?), more screamy. I liked it a lot though. Kingdom gets all the attention, so this one seems to get overlooked often. He's pretty funny in it as well: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gJiCtsGoZcq-cqw.html

Yeah, I like the female vocalist better than the first version with Devin singing. I don’t know why. Maybe the mixing and engineering is better in the female version? Either way, original or female version, both are great songs. Wish there were more reaction videos for songs off his “Terria” and “Synchestra” albums. Anyways, dude is a genius.

I remember you from Devy's Kingdom reaction vid! Great you did Deadhead live @ RAH. For some completely different amazing voices/artists check out these 2: Dimash - SOS (live at slavic bazar)... he's probably the best singer technically, so versatile, his range is "godlike"... Angelina Jordan - I Put a Spell on You... she's the biggest talent, she's so young but her voice is so mature... jazz, soul, pop, blues... Both of these singers are in a league of their own... it'll be a journey when you discover them.

If you want a recommendation on something fun to react to, try out other stuff in these same kinda circles, like something by Porcupine Tree or Opeth. Mikael in Opeth has got an interesting voice for sure, so maybe a live shot of 'Ghost of Perdition' or something! The song 'Anesthetize' from Porcupine Tree's show Live in Tillburg is also a great, dreamy experience.

Your next step depends solely on whether you want more in the same vein or whether you want to see other sides of DT. Deadhead and KIngdom are a good median point - he has stuff that's harder, heavier, faster, more extreme and on the other edge of the spectrum he's got smooth, delicate, light sounds that can bring just as much joy. If Deadhead and Kingdom are your sweet spot, you will probably love Supercrush, Stormbending, Higher, Failure, Numbered, Juular. If you want harder, more extreme, then Love or Detox are great places to start. On the lighter side would be Ih-Ah, Mountaintop, Why. Or you could check out Genesis, which sort of has all of the above )))) One thing I would recommend is checking out songs with his 2 great collaborators - Anneke van Giersbergen *Supercrush, Numbered, or Grace) and Che Aimee Dorval (Mountaintop) - those are stellar.

I think with Devin, he’s less a musician and more an artist. In the broadest sense, and imho, it’s less about just listening to him but opening all of your senses up to experience him and his music- akin somewhat to a religious or epiphany moment. He is a force to be reckoned with and gives me goosebumps every time I listen and see him.
