It is relevant, they were children, I think they sparred the first time to get Shakur ready for the Olympics. This was probably literally 8 years ago or more. Stop saying it wasn’t that long ago.

Shakur uses far more complex foot work and counterpunching, while Devin relies on single shots until he gets a fighter against the ropes. And not much is different today.

It was even to me Devin landed the harder punches but Shakur was definitely alot sharper.

Haney needed to be more patient. He was effective when he had Shakur coming in. Shakur was getting him like how Marquez got Pacquiao.

Good work.. hope we get to see the real thing 1 day 🙏🏾 I thought Kur was cleaner and more defensively sound but Haney made adjustments on the fly and used his size to put Shakur on the ropes a few times and was slightly more aggressive. Great work from both Champs 🥊

What I like about Dev, is that he continues to learn and pickup from every fight. The very next fight he shows those added abilities in spite of what others think of him. Dev just continues to test himself, because he wants to be a great and not just an average name and fighter. Iny humble opinion, he's already one with the way he has gone this far and he will continue to improve.

Shakur had a bad last performance, but man I need to see him fight a good one again. When he’s on his A game he’s fun to watch.

I think it’s an excellent breakdown and would be a great fight!

Devin was just getting Shakur ready for his first pro fight

Sparring and fighting are two very different things. You may reach the wrong conclusions if you make your assessments based on this. In sparring fighters make deliberate decisions not throw certain punches or make certain moves in order to enhance areas that they may be struggling with e.g. circling to the left or right, check hocks, pot shot, etc...

Can't compare peoples old sparring videos, to what would happen now. Fighters evolve over time.

I think he’s stating this was longer than a few years ago more like 7 for reference. The difference between their age doesn’t matter. Shakur did look cleaner back then. I believe they’ve both gotten better, Haney more so due to the level of competition he’s been fighting. Would love to see it now. Goes to whomever’s having a better night.

Guess what people Devin showed within the first round he can land the left hook after going down to the body easy work

Rd 1 was even Devin made it even with that combo at the end round 2 Devin won round 3 shakur won with that shot at the end.

He called it accurately, he’s def not hating on either fighter. First rd.. Shakur controlled but Dev was still working. 🤷🏾‍♂️😂 it’s cool.

They were evenly matched back as kids but Shakur still fights the same way while Devin has added to his arsenal. He fought 3 southpaws in 5 fights. And his defense against them got better each time. The philly shell doesnt work on southpaws so he adapted. It would still be a great fight tho because Shakur has always seemed faster and his defense tighter. Hopefully we get this fight sooner rather than later.

It would be a good fight between them. They are both smart fighters. I might give a slightly upper hand to Haney because he downloaded Shakurs information to use it against him in such a short time.

I like both fighters but shakur actually got tired and wanted to end fight which is not shown

Two very good technical fighters without a lot of power. Could make for a fight on the boring side if they fight each other.

Shakur is very sharp, and is so fast that it makes devin go to block mode. Devin advantage is the height and reach. This was years ago so it will be interesting wat happens when they fight.

I agree that Shakur got the better of Devin 2 rounds to 1. And I think a fight now would be similar to this sparring. Both have improved, but both of them are still very technical fighters without a lot of power. It would be a crazy chess match with Shakur edging Devin out on the cards.

I don’t see the commentator sided, very well analyzed. Very closed although Shakur seems lighter and better defense/counter but this does not necessarily transfer to a real fight as Haney is also very very very smart and shows he quickly adapts. Haney was mostly in the attack which is not his day to day style and we know he is also great counter puncher. A real fight would be great but low volume and boring. They both need to control the pace and are low risk smart fighters.
