Devin Booker - Bubble MVP/Super Scorer

Спорт

Devin Booker. 2020 NBA All-Star. 2018 Three-Point Contest champion. Youngest player in NBA history with consecutive 50 point games. Youngest player to score 60 or more in an NBA game. Book is one of only SIX players in NBA history to reach the 70 point plateau - Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, David Robinson, David Thompson, and Elgin Baylor are his only contemporaries in that hyper exclusive club.
The BEST player on the only team in history that will go undefeated in the regular season in August. Best of all? As of the end of his time in the bubble, he’s ONLY 23 years old.
Devin devastates defenders. His arsenal is awe-inspiring. He’s outstanding off the ball. He’s evolving as a screener. He’s a sharpshooter whether on the catch or off the bounce. He’ll blow by if you play up. He’s splashing it if you play off. Booker breaks defensive game plans by burying it from just about anywhere on the court, with just about anyone guarding him (see: Lu Dort from distance or Paul George at the end of that game). Book’s footwork is fantastic, his balance is brilliant, he’ll be a battering ram and bang around with bigs because he’s sneaky strong. Plus, Devin is developing his passing game - not that it’s even been bad, but he’ll read and recognize situations well ahead of when he used to and he’ll make the right play right away.
Damian Lillard guested on the GREAT podcast Tea With A & Phee (link below) before the Suns and Blazers had played their final regular season games. Dame was asked about being the Bubble MVP, he responded “I mean if it was up to, I’ll say Devin Booker. I’ll give to him because they’re undefeated.” He did follow up by saying “he can have the Bubble MVP but I need the playoff spot.”
Lillard later went on say that whoever gets the playoff spot will probably win MVP…but let’s give Monty Williams the Coach of the Bubble award and then, it's really up to you who gets Bubble MVP. I'd honestly be happy with naming Lillard and Booker Co-MVPs.
As far as I know, this has nearly every made FG from the bubble regular season play. The dunk against the Raptors is from the warmup games but it was too good and too similar to the dunk against the 76ers to leave out.

That's tough man. Brandon was 22 when he came into the league. Devin has finished his 5th season in the league having not even turned 24 yet (he will in October). Hard to say because Kobe called Roy the most difficult player to guard in 2010. I remember distinctly the line "no weaknesses in his game" coming from Kobe.

Evin Gualberto I remember the game, Ron Artest said the same thing. Book’s skill set is so advanced for his age, the skill level of the young talent is insane.

Roy had this way of always being balanced, tight handles, and could get to the rim at will. It’s a shame we never saw him reach his prime. The guy just felt like you could always trust him to do what needed to be done on the court.

i really hope the Suns can recreate the success they had in the bubble next season. They did a lot of things right this season, now they have to take the framework and build themselves into a playoff lock. it’s a shame only 8 teams can make the playoffs. i really feel like this year there were 10 playoff teams out west. maybe time for the NBA to try 1-16 seeding?
