LOL. Seriously though, if you want to sit there bawling your eyes out, watch the stripped down version of this song taken from the Empath concert. Devin manages to just rip out the emotions from audiences in his live shows.

Thank you so much - it's always a pleasure sharing your discovery of Dev - his music has such spiritual and inspirational qualities to me. Not to be confused with any religion - but his music touches my soul. It seems the folks that "get him" are instant super fans. He's extremely connected to us in some unique way. Cheers!!

he has a similar song, I also really like it, it’s called “Universal flames”, and during the performance of this song at the “royal albert” concert, which you already made reactions to, Devin brought his son and some fans from the crowd onto the stage and it was very cool and enchanting ❤ and yes, at one of his festival concerts there was actually an elephant on stage, it was fun. Devin is such a joker

He's an absolute wonder isnt he! Somehow manages to tap directly into the emotions with his unique wall of beautiful noise. This one in particular makes me well up everytime. The whole "Empath" album helped me through an incredibly dark period of my life. Such an important artist. Yeah.... give "Grace live at the retinal circus" a go... or the official "Stormbending" video. I'm sure you'd love both. Great reaction man!

Devin is the perfect messenger for material such as this song. That impassioned wall of sound was never more aesthetically appropriate. I love his work and this album is a delight. What you speak of is the true paradoxical nature of life.. our internal battle which we each have is to be comfortable with being alone, and the communal battle is for us to ensure that no matter how alone any one of us feels there's always someone out there, stranger or friend, who is happy to help pick up the pieces. As much as we are truly alone in our thoughts and perceptions, our interconnectedness is equally undeniable. To my mind those who need of the most help are the ones on the ragged edge of life who are consumed by a need for power and control. Generally speaking I believe that it is they who hurt the most.

Thank you SO much for finally getting to my request! I got so excited to see it, I dropped everything I was doing to watch. Great reaction, as always. More Dev! The only one of my requests you haven't gotten to yet is "Grace" (live at the Retinal Circus version). I cannot wait for you to do that one. It is going to blow your mind all the way, it is so huge. I know how strongly you feel about this subject so I wanted to give you some thoughts from Dev on this song from an interview in "Louder" for background on it. He says "It’s ultimately an 'anti-suicide' statement " then talks about it being “A video with CGI gorillas playing bass and elephants playing drums in front of a billion people is so ridiculously dumb that I’m surprised it makes me feel as happy as it does, but the theme of the song is essentially about trying to convince kids or teens to 'hang on' when they feel depression or suicidal thoughts.” He continues: “The story of the video is that a kid has a fantasy about playing at a massive concert with thousands of people as a choir, animals etc - just the biggest concert he can imagine, and the strength of the sound and the intention of a bunch of people singing together is such that the sound blows away the darkness." I love that. Go back & watch it again knowing all that & reading the lyrics with that context. It's very emotional. One of my favorite parts is the 1st chorus "So they rise / The "fear and pain", but this isn't how I am Don't you forget that you are loved / Don't you forget that you are them / It's hard enough" And my personal favorite in the 2nd chorus. I will get a tattoo of this one day: "So we rise / Receive the pain, but this isn't where this ends." So powerful. Thank you again, bud. You're awesome. ))

I was having such a difficult time after receiving a terminal diagnosis and then this song was released (yes, so far, I have outlived all expectations and am really, really blessed) and it really helped me come to grips with a ton of shit I was feeling and how I was taking that out on those who I love the most. Those two choruses you mentioned still make me cry every time I hear them along with "Remember the flame in your heart burns strong/We may not be brave so let's start. It helped me be accept death and be strong again for my family rather than putting all my fear into the world and onto them. I also love the video itself. His interaction with everyone is another thing that helped/helps me remember that I am them. Anyway, I freaking love Devin and this is one of my favorite tunes of his so thank you for recommending it for a reaction. Grace from Retinal Circus is also so life-affirming.

@@Ta2dlam Thanks for sharing your inspirational story. You brought a tear to my eye. Consider yourself hugged and God bless! Did Tommy ever get around reacting to "Grace" like he said he was going to? It's kind of the polar opposite of all the extremely dark death metal stuff he got into. I left the channel and Patreon after a few of those.

Thank you for reacting to this powerful song. Of all of Devin's music, this one is the most impactful to me and I become emotional listening to it. The message is so incredible and has uplifted me many times. The key lyric to me: "Don't you forget that you are loved." I am curious as to the title, though, and have wondered about the actual meaning behind it - which spirits, and what is the collision? I also wonder if the imagery of the elephants is associated with the lyric "remember" which is repeated throughout the song. Elephants are known to have strong memories, hence the phrase, "an elephant never forgets."

This was a bit softer than Devy's usual stuff, but it was really good. I liked the chorus singers in this track, they gave the song an ethereal fell. The video was definitely interesting. Sky is the limit brother for 2024.

Devin will always have a place in my heart and what I listen to, his music can go to extremes for sure but here we see how much love and respect he has for everybody around him, the video is simply outstanding as is the music, and as always you listen to a song several times and it rewards you with something new every single time, I cannot wiat to hear his latest adventures into music and see if he can realise the potential of his latest ideas, Devin can seem superficial but he has more depth in a single note than many musicians manage in a whole album.
