Devante is such an enigma. I hear horror stories about him, then other stories talking about how he helped people, then some gangsta shit, then he writes the most beautiful love songs. And he never speaks out for himself - it's everybody else doing the talking, spreading the rumours but DeVante remains a mystery.

@@jasonwhite4891 Ontario, CA. There was a big 90’s rewind musical fest and Jodeci performed. He was also one of the main sound managers too because their band played for a lot of other artists that performed so he was backstage anyway. I went with my mom, cousins and a few other people. It was a good show. TLC was good too. There’s another defeat happening in Vegas next year. His daughter said he’s thinking about performing with Jodeci there too. Kci wasn’t there at the show in Ontario because he had a stroke , but Kci and jojo’s cousin filled in.

A close friend of his mentioned it too, one of his goddaughter's parents but one of the fans asked if he would consider going and she said he's thinking about it. This was before Dalvin announced that DeVante would be at the show in Ontario. I hope he still goes, it was good to see him. You could tell he was happy being onstage. He was interacting with the fans too. I didn't get to meet him but me and my aunt and cousins were in the 3 row to the right of the stage and my aunt if course was being a groupie and yelled out his name , she got his attention tho one time LOL but that was about it. IDK if they did meet and greets but they may have because there were exclusive interviews that will be posted on some radio station IG. Overall, the show was amazing and Jodeci actually did a good job without K-ci. I was wondering what happened to him but it was said he was recovering from a stroke.

May not be a nice person, but boy he was nice as a producer. Still one of the 🐐’s.

Supposedly he never drank or got high but he was affected by improper med prescriptions which happened much later.Some say he's addicted to weed now though.Never know what's real with Mr Dalvin because he was the main one saying his brother's issues had nothing to do with addiction.

He probably felt stripped of identity and needed total control along with power after those guys roughed him up in his house. Whatever the case may be the big picture is you can’t erase pain by inflicting it on others.

Read an interview from 2020 with a chic who was in a group with Tweet, and she said DeVante was a caring person and cultivated the talent of Missy, Timberland and everyone in Da Bassment. She said he started to become aggressive and on edge later on in the late 90s, because of people leaving and being disloyal. She didn’t mention that folks were being disrespected or hit. I think they're referring to the actual crew documentary @@user-pd9fe1vx3i It used to be available online & it went deeper.I can't remember the name of ole girl but she's the one they blame for Sista breaking up, supposedly she was sleeping with Devante so she always defended him.There was also some deeper stuff online about him,his girlfriend that Timothy killed & his youngest daughter's mom Arlene as well as the robbery.His issues with Missy etc started after the death due to him feeling like people he was loyal to were taking Timothy's side.That's the part of the story that always gets left out.The fact that somebody died then everybody suddenly got opportunities aka hush money.Missy etc used to mention him but the bigger Timothy got the quieter they got.Now they act like he never existed because none of them want the car crash brought up.A couple of them have spoken on it in the past but the stories are buried deep.A lot of people have said he never drank or did drugs which would mean that robbery involved some serious stuff.It also explains why he slowly lost his mind.For a while he was doing fine,their bts documentary was done after that & he was functioning.Not sure what's true overall but it's a fact he wasn't the same after the 2 incidents just like it's a fact he was taking whatever he was struggling with out on the people around him, including his kids unfortunately.

This guy is the best💯%....I met him in London I believe it was between 2006 - 2009...and I've never met a nicer person...after they performed in Wembley my friends and i found out that they were to be at the hotel in the foyer...we thought the info we got wasn't real but we still went along ONLY TO FIND them chilling and talking to ppl there....I was shocked but happy. When my sister and i saw devante we offered to buy him a drink and he was TOTALLY SHOCKED (I guess he was used to young girls asking him for drinks) and after looking stunned for a while he said only if you want too.....he only made us buy him ONE drink and he was so humble with it....after standing with us and talking for a while he went and walk around alittle.....then he came back to where we were (always accompanied with his assistant and friend)and I asked him if he was looking for any new talent and could i sing for him and he said sure hes always looking for new talent....we went over to where the sofa was(my sister, best friend, devante, his assistant and I) and then i sang for him....and I'll never forget those words he said after i sang which was "give this girl my number right now" I thought i was dreaming lol....after that he chilled with us on the sofa and we spoke for about 1hr....about life and all sorts....we all spoke like when you speak to your siblings...even though in my head I was screaming (devante is really talking to us lol) anyways after, he said he was going back to his hotel room so we said it was nice meeting him and was just about to leave...then I asked him when should I call and he said he was leaving for America the next day so he would be back in the studio around Wednesday which was three days away...I said OK I will call him then we went home. Wednesday came and I went to call his phone and his assistant answered, I said can I speak to devante and she said 1min....he came on the phone and I was like hi devante I don't think you will remember me but....(and before I could finish he was like) yes I remember that voice your _ _ _ _ _😮 I was shocked😮, I was like wow you remembered my name😊 and he was like "of course how could I forget a voice like that "🤗 anyways long story short we planned that he would bring me over to America and have me in the studio.....but being the clumsy CLUMSY girl I am, I lost his number😕😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭....but best experience EVER....THANKS DEVANTE for just being who you are....A REAL GENUINE NICE GENTLEMEN 😊

Facts

DaVante was super talented and a great finder of talent. He literally put together probably the hottest musical crew of the late 90's/early 2000's. And that included one of the greatest writers in Static Major. And DeVante wasn't around for any of it when they took off which lets you know he likely had ways about him which drove them far away. I bet he saw the end of the "Up Jump Da Boogie" video with all them standing there and lost it. How do you have all that talent in your basement for years and not push them? When you start to believe that everybody around is not talented and hard working in their own right and you minimize their potential to exalt yours. Hopefully he can change and have another run because he obviously has an awesome ear.

ALL of those artists GLADLY worked with less talented people. Writers, Singers, Producers, Engineers all walked away and it didn't have to be that way if Devante had figured out how to treat people with the same respect that he expected.

I saw a short clip of someone talking to DeVante in an airport, what I can tell is DeVante talks very hard and matter of fact, and he curses a lot. And a lot of people, especially people like a Danny Boy is too sensitive and can’t handle being talked to hard like that. DeVante is one of them people who doesn’t say too much of anything in a nice way.

I got a few unexpected keyboard lessons from Devante when I was 19 in Rochester. I was around him and I think he only tried people he think he could. He’s not supposed to be nice - he’s a peak value man. A grizzly bear.

There seems to be alot of interesting urban legends about Mr. Swing. Probably some truths mixed with a little or alot of exaggerations.

First of all DeVante is not a horrible person. Just because someone doesn’t agree with your life style doesn’t make them horrible.
