Deuce and Half meets 22 inches of Snow

We got somewhere in the neighborhood of 22 inches this past weekend (the "Snowpocalypse" according to the media) which effectively immobilized all of the vehicles on my street... except for my Deuce. The snow plows don't usually come down my road until well after the storms so I decided to take maters into my own hands. Using the 18,000lbs of the truck I compacted the snow to a much more manageable 2 inches so that other cars and trucks could drive again.
Throughout the course of the day John and I also helped pull/push/winch a car to safety and helped a lady in another part of the neighborhood get to work. We also had a lot of fun in the process.
If you would like to see more about my truck, check out my related videos or my website at www.sudoseth.co...

I own one. Absolutely love it. Granted their big, no creature comforts, such as power steering radio, or sound system but it has so many other advantages. Everything on there is ruggidized for deep water fording, and cold operation. The interior is basically bare, working on it is easy but sometimes a pain in the butt but generally redundatly simple. If you properly maintain it and do the proper maintenance procedures, the truck will take care of you.

There is something awesome about pushing 16K+ lbs down the street, plus the weight and resistance of all the snow, and just having the truck laugh!! I would say, "Only in a Deuce!" but that's not true... So how about the three magic words to describe this.... "SIX WHEEL DRIVE!!!!". Gotta love being laughed at for owning one, then have the last laugh when you're the only one out there saving/helping people!!! Like the lady filming said... "GO DEUCE!!!"

@TheAnarchistPrince Yes, that is true. After several days of not being plowed previously we decided to act with what we had. The way it was the smaller trucks couldn't move at all. Using a deuce wasn't the ideal solution, but without an actual snowplow it was the best we could do. This way the smaller 4x4 trucks / suv and even some cars could get around. Thanks for watching!

Why not build a make shift blade that attaches and hinge's off the bumper and build a small boom frame over the top and use your winch to raise and lower it . All of this could either clamp or bolt on to the bumper for seasonal use . You would be the hero of the neighborhood !

This is why people buy these things, along of course, the cool factor of owning one. Just wonder how/if you could adapt an actual snow plow to the front. Then you could REALLY clear the streets.

Their only like between 5 and eight grand and are cheap to maintain if you know your way around a wrench. However the recommended dot5 brake fluid is pricey but very good, the fuel filters are complicated unless their a spin off conversion, but they smoke witch I don't mind, the bad part is some parts are hard to find but cheap used. simple to drive but a full body workout

@XxClemsonTigersXx Somewhere between 6 and 9 miles per gallon depending on the drive cycle. The truck spends a lot of time idling, so it's hard to get an exact measurement. It burns somewhere around 0.75 Gallons per Hour while idling.

The one guy is right about turning it to compact.... But you can still get traction on compact. Unlike dragging a shit ton of snow with your bumper and axle. Last thing anyone needs is for it to pack underneath your vehicle and for you to spin to no traction.... Been there XD

They can still be had on the gov. auctions from time to time. They are quite popular and can run from just several thousand to 8,9 or even 10 grand (for a M109 like that) in as-is condition. (some are running and some are not) I went a bit BIGGER and bought a 5 ton M813a1. And picked it up in running condition for less than 5K. Registration and insurance can be a bear depending on where you live though. I have a few short vids...but nothing really good to show it off yet.

@Echo7049 Large trucks like M35A2's don't compress the snow into manageable snow amounts instead it creates hard pack that turns into ICE. I know because a) I own a M35A2 and b) I live in an area with heavy snow falls. So I've turned entire areas into ice by driving over them too often. I also daily drive my M35A2.

@TheWhyness No offense, but did you even watch the video? With 22 inches of snow on the ground most cars would be stuck as the snow was up past their axles and bumpers. The deuce was able to compress the snow down to about 3-4 inches of packed snow which the cars could much more easily navigate. 4x4s could have navigated it before hand, but after 2 days of being stuck, regular car drivers wanted to get out.
