Detroit's Dudley Randall used poetry and persistence to change the face of literature

Dudley Randall, a Detroit poet and UMSI alum, changed the face of American Literature. In 1965, he founded Broadside Press in Detroit, MI, bringing the work of nearly 200 African American Poets to press for the first time.
His legacy and cultural impact is touched on by University of Michigan and Wayne State University professor Dr. Melba Boyd, a colleague and biographer of Randall.
For National Poetry Month, we honor Dudley Randall and his lasting impact not only on American Literature, but our society in general.
