Detroit, Michigan WORST Parts
Here's some of the WORST and most DANGEROUS parts of Detroit. This city is one of the most dangerous, and also abandoned places in America. Since the Auto collapse and bad financial decisions by many, this city has been on the decline for many decades now. From a height of population at 1.8 million now down to about a third of that, there are so many abandoned buildings and homes. Street after street, its unreal. Poverty is at a soaring rate of over 40%, and in some neighborhoods it's at an unbelievable 83% ! It truly looks like a war zone in many places, and to be honest at times it really is. These aren't your typical neighborhood areas on decline, it's some of the most dangerous hoods in the United States. Let's take a drive and check it out!

Man, some of these images look like something out of a post-war scene. This is heartbreaking from every angle. And I'm not even from the US
The size of these homes remind me of a home in the Pittsburgh area I spent 7th grade through graduation in. It was so old it had radiator heaters and a back and front stairwell, a foyer, and a cellar and three floors. Also had a front and back porch. It fit a family of 10 nicely. I imagine these homes were once inhabited by wealthy families. Total shame they were left to rot and overtaken by nature. 😢

Ya mate this isn't Europe, the rich only care about making money, they tear down old buildings not restore them like Europe does
I grew up in the Morningside area on Bedford, a couple blocks from Mack Ave in the 70's and 80's. I heard the area is being renovated and brought back to life. My old family home is a section 8 rental now still in shabby condition. Gutters hanging off the house, broke porch steps and curtains inside totally falling sideways. My great grandfather had it built, as he came from Ireland as an indentured servant. Maybe do some vids where people are trying to bring neighborhoods back (other than downtown which just looks gentrified). I miss my childhood there so much. It's sad to see the decay. Great job on what you're doing by the way!
Thank you for this kind of videos. No music, no commentary, just pure streets - get yourself exposes, get your own emotions and opinions. As if you were really there...

It's hard to believe how nice these homes must have been at one time. People with good incomes had to have lived in them. To have your fortunes change so dramatically as to simply walk away from such beautiful homes is unimaginable. Imagine paying a visit to your old neighborhood or childhood home and finding this.
Frank interview a with people who left in the 60s and 70s would be interesting.

Wow! Those homes with the golden brick fronts and wooden sides really fascinated me for some reason. So many of those houses looked huge! The craftsmanship and woodworking skills probably still evident in most of those large old homes, banisters, stairways, built in cupboards, ceiling moldings etc. are artisan artwork, lost to time and decay. Just think of the thousands of square feet of maple flooring in those old mansions. Just rotting away, never to be seen or used again. All the old green and pink fixtures…. The grand parties held when people moved into these homes for the first time. It’s all so sad…..

Wow. Oh this is just heartbreaking. All of these majestic and once beautiful homes, each of them echoing into the terrible silence the broken sounds of laughter stilled, and dreams so sweet and so so needed that they could not bear the pain that scraped the source of themselves from the sidewalks, the empty rooms, and from the many splintered hearts that died there in the cold embrace of something so evil, and so wrong that even though it has ceased to matter, it has not. Sorrow indefinable lays in uneasy rest here, and it shall never, no not ever, forget its loss. Its unimaginable loss. This video is breathtakingly beautiful in its unspeakable tragedy. Thanks for sharing.
The Automobile capital at one time. Unbelievable a major industria metro city turn into this... i remember CBS 60 minutes did a story on how many abandoned home and industrial buildings needing removed. 85,000 in total. And no funding to demolished
you know a place is messed up when even the garbage floating around is picked clean.
Detroit went from 1.8 million people in the 50s to now just 630,000 so you can imagine how empty the city is
Some of those houses would have possibilities. Unfortunately it would require a income. I've watched Detroit in decline for 45 years. Thank you.

watching all these videos on abandoned and bad cities makes me wonder what exactly is going on in this country that we aren't being told as usual. Detroit was at one time thriving. I really enjoy seeing the architecture! Some of these places must have looked quite grand with their brick façades, porches & balconies. They look pretty big, 2 storeys & a lot of depth compared to the width of the frontage. Too expensive to repair I suppose

Where i live in north east England there was a large run down industrial site and a dirty river Tees. Lots of investment created houses, shopping centre, university, river barrage and sailing centre. The area was transformed. This is what Detroit needs. Investment, creativity and jobs to bring it back to life 🎉
Believe it or not it used to be much worse. My childhood home has been long gone.
It amazes me that folks torch perfectly decent homes, and then expect the state to give them everything - because they are 'poor'.

They torch them so squatters and other criminals can't use them. Their also structurally unsafe, the X painted on the houses indicates this.
Such beautiful homes & architecture just left to rot in the elements. Shame😞
Had you remained traveling East on Tuxedo, when you reached Linwood, you would have come to Central High School where I went to school in 1975!
Never seen a city patch their sidewalk repairs with asphalt. Maybe temporary patches like that. But we all know they will not fix those sidewalks with fresh concrete. Not even in ADA compliance for handicapped residents. Speaks volumes to why the housing is in disrepair. The City has just given up on its self.
Are there any for sale? Looks like a great spot for my family, just what we were looking for!

These homes @10 minutes in must have looked fabulous 50 years ago
How could any city allow this to happen? It's easy to see that once upon a time these houses were proud and stately. Economic decline is no excuse. Conscious decisions of many kinds made this possible. You don't get that kind of post-nuclear-war look overnight. The greatest country in the world. Yes, of course.
These used to be beautiful homes.
Is there a plan for these houses because I bet that if the city sells them dirt cheap and gets a bank to offer low interest home improvement loans, there would be enough interest to fix them.
@janeentumbao8690

I think there is a program or two available. But.... Think about the opposition. Would you want to own property there that may be vandalized during the process of reconstruction or after it's done? Do you want to pay for seriously armed security 24/7? If it's an apartment building, who would you rent it out to? And would they want to live there? And would they keep their units up? And would you be in line with fair/affordable housing? That's a thing in Chicago where if you have a building that has so many units, x% has to be for lower income people or you'd have to pay some fee to sidestep that. I personally would love to do something like that for East Cleveland Ohio (where I'm from). But... I know the reality of dealing with certain areas and the people there and what may or may not be supported. He made a video in EC some time ago. If you haven't checked it out, do. It looks like a mini version of Detroit.
So sad
All that great architecture lost forever.
After watching this video, it became clear to me and to you that Detroit is a tale of two cities. While some have the luxury of beautiful, well-maintained homes and neighborhoods, others live in poverty in the shadows of those who have everything. Poverty in America is out of control, but what can we do to fix it? There has to be a better way to make sure everyone has a chance to live comfortably and safely.
Dang, when our family left there in 1989, it was not like this. I know cities have their ups and downs but this is unreal. Much of it looks like deliberate destruction. Not like it was just left untouched.

..what the silicon valley is today is what detroit was yesterday..the industrial age left behind the remnants of a workforce that moved the entire world..they were ill prepared for the shift to technology...no one could see it then..but it was inevitable..most of the workforce had a ton of kids who had no future..poverty brought desperation..desperation brought crime..bye bye detroit..in the 60's and 70's..it was the best ...I'm very proud to have been raised there..

Scott Steiner, professional wrestler and former WCW World Heavyweight Champion, has long been vocal about his hatred for his native city of Detroit, Michigan. The Michigan native, born and raised in Bay City, made his feelings towards Detroit known to the public in a 2011 interview with Slam! Wrestling. In the interview, Steiner expressed his disappointment in Detroit’s decline over the years. He blamed the city’s corruption and lack of leadership for its downfall. “I would never live in Detroit,” he said. “The city has gone downhill. It’s an embarrassment.” He continued his rant by talking about the crime and poverty that have plagued the city for years. “It’s a shame what’s happened to Detroit,” Steiner said. “It’s been so neglected and mismanaged that it’s a joke. It’s a shame to the state of Michigan.” Steiner’s disdain for Detroit has not gone unnoticed. The city has seen its fair share of responses to his negative comments. From angry letters to the editors of local newspapers, to public protests, Detroiters have made their feelings known. Despite the pushback, Steiner stands by his stance. “I have no love for Detroit,” he said in a later interview. “I’m a Michigan native and I love the state, but Detroit has been a continual disappointment.” It’s clear that Steiner’s opinion of Detroit won’t be changing anytime soon. While it’s unfortunate that a native son would have such negative feelings towards his hometown, it’s also important to remember that his comments come from a place of love. His criticism may be harsh, but it’s his way of hoping for a brighter future for Detroit.
